Personal Description:

My name is Bertie and I've loved playing piano since I was tiny. I'm currently offering afforable lessons for beginner and intermediate pianists of any age. Having attended Yorkshire Young Musicians at Leeds College of Music for four years and played keyboard for York's renowned YMF Jazz Orchestra, I know what it's like you grow your piano-playing skills from the ground up.

Tutoring Experience:

After starting teaching full-time in 2021, I now have over 200 hours of 1-to-1 teaching experience in both piano and music theory, during which I have supported both adult and child students on their progress towards exams or simply to guide their exploration of the instrument. I also have wide range of performing experience including playing piano in York Music Forum's Jazz Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall as part of the Music For Youth final in 2018 and 2022. I also have an ABRSM Grade 8 in classical piano, as well as Grade 6 in singing and level 9 (strong A*) at GCSE music.

Tutoring Approach:

I love teaching beyond what the standard ABRSM grades and exams can offer. I'll tailor our lessons to the styles and techniques that most inspire you. Perhaps you want to get to grips with jazz harmony and learn to read lead sheets, or maybe you want to learn how to write your first song on the piano. Whatever you want to learn, I'll help you get there. I will also be more than happy to help you pass your exams for Grades 1 to 5.
