Personal Description:

My love of music stems from a childhood immersed in singing, dancing and instrumental lessons. This has remained with me throughout my life and influenced not only my leisure activities but my choice of career.
I am a fully qualified, practising primary school teacher with a specialism in music teaching.
I have an Enhanced DBS Certificate and am fully insured to teach in my home.

Tutoring Experience:

Qualifying more than 30 yrs ago, I have taught in several schools, working with children across Key Stage 1 and 2, teaching all curriculum areas… After a few years I became a specialist primary school music teacher teaching National Curriculum music requirements - vocal and instrumental work, composing and music appraisal - across the 4-11 age range.
Throughout my career I have also been teaching piano and guitar privately from my home.
I teach both adults and children and specialise in beginners.
I prepare students for exams if they wish and have a 100% success rate.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a warm, patient and enthusiastic teacher and strive to get the very best from my pupils through stimulating lessons in a homely, relaxed environment.
I love teaching and particularly enjoy witnessing pupils excitement and pleasure at their increased confidence and ability.

As a very experienced teacher, my approach takes into account the age, personality and goals of the student and is adapted accordingly.

Most lessons are 30 mins long for which I charge £17. Lessons include an interesting repertoire of music; hand-strengthening exercises, music theory and aural work.
