Personal Description:

Hello! My name is Lavinia and I am a classical violinist! I completed my Bachelor of Music (Hons) at the Royal Academy of Music in London and am currently a postgraduate at the same conservatoire. I am passionate about sharing music with others particularly through teaching and mentoring musicians of all ages. I have been teaching for over five years and work with musicians of all levels and ages. I am happy to teach students with a variety of goals for their musical development. Whether for a hobby or more serious involvement, I will put my utmost effort into providing unique lessons directed towards your individual learning style and objectives! My biography can be found below:

Ana-Lavinia is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music where she studied with Professor Joshua Fisher, following two years of working with Remus Azoitei. From Romania, to Canada, to America and finally to London – Lavinia has migrated to many stages and teachers in order to feed her love of music. During her studies, she had the pleasure of playing alongside the Academy’s Symphony Orchestra in the Royal Albert Hall and Royal Festival Hall and has had various performances in London’s Cadogan Hall, St. Paul’s Covent Garden and multiple popular concert venues. She has also had the opportunity to work with amazing musicians and conductors including Sir Mark Elder, Robert Trevino, Thomas Gould, Jac van Steen and Marin Alsop.

Lavinia has won numerous Canadian awards from the Kiwanis Music Festival, Kitchener Waterloo Symphony Youth Orchestra and competitions she has attended. She has also, for multiple years, been a top prize winner of the Canadian Music Competition. She enjoys performing alongside the Fidelio Quartet and has participated in countless orchestral performances, many times leading orchestras such as the Horton Chamber Orchestra, the KWS Youth Orchestra and the Firebird Orchestra.

In 2014, Lavinia had her solo debut with the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, alongside conductor John Morris Russell at the Centre in the Square, which is regarded as “one of the finest performance spaces in North America”. Following her debut, she was invited back to perform with the orchestra on multiple occasions, playing prominent repertoire such as Lalo’s Symphonie Espagnole and the Sibelius Violin Concerto.

Tutoring Experience:

I have had the pleasure of sharing my love of music with musicians of all ages ever since I began teaching the violin in 2014. I teach both young and mature students, focusing my energy on priva**Contact Detail Removed**ssons. I have also had the opportunity to work with groups of young children at summer programs in collaboration with the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony.

Tutoring Approach:

When I begin teaching an individual, especially beginners, I make sure that I inspire them and teach them the value and beauty of music. I am very thorough about teaching technique properly so that it will last and be an asset in one's musical future, but I still like to keep my students on their toes and excited about actually making music and adding life to the notes they draw out of their instruments. Each individual is unique and has different goals they wish to achieve with their playing, thus, for me it is very important to establish a connection with my students and cater each lesson to their specific needs and learning style.
