Personal Description:
Dutch-born Alicia is both an active chamber- and orchestral musician. She is part of the Behn Quartet who got selected as the CAVATINA Chamber Music Fellows at the Royal Academy of Music and as Associate Quartet at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
Winner of the Charles Hennen 1st Prize 2017 at the Orlando Competition and the Serena Nevill Prize awarded annually to ‘a young artist who shows exceptional promise’, Alicia graduated with distinction from the Royal Academy of Music in 2016, where she studied with Joshua Fisher. Besides chamber music, Alicia regularly appears with orchestras such as the London Chamber Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra.
Tutoring Experience:
I have had a busy private studio since 2010 teaching kids and adults of all levels.
Besides that I regularly go into schools to do outreach work and introduce primary school kids to music.
Tutoring Approach:
Mainly being a performing violinist, I am also a dedicated, enthusiastic and experienced teacher and currently have spaces available for beginners and advanced students of all ages.
Developing a love and pleasure in music making is central in my lessons. Besides that I am teaching violin technique in a healthy and natural way.
There will be special attention to reading music, posture and ensemble playing. I will also focus on music theory, sight reading and performance skills.
