Personal Description:

I am an enthusiastic individual with a passion for life- especially music. I began learning the violin when I was five and studied until I was encouraged to try the viola by my teacher (himself a violist by preference) at the age of 14 and went on to study it at university in America. I have achieved distinction in all my exams, have led both violin and viola sections in orchestras as a teenager, and sang in an awarding-winning youth choir, with whom I toured Europe. I sang with Magdalene Chapel choir while studying in Cambridge, I currently sing with Aberdeen Chorus of Sweet Adelines, and I am in the barbershop competing quartet Rough Diamonds. I am currently studying the Director's Certification Programme, and am an emerging composer, writing for choir, orchestra and children, and have been played on Classic FM and UCB2.

Tutoring Experience:

I love to teach! My pupils have ranged between 4 and 60 years of age (it's never too late to learn!)

Tutoring Approach:

I like to adapt to my pupils' wants and needs and understand that some people want to take grade exams whereas others only want a teacher every few weeks for a bit of fun… or anything else in between! The same goes for repertoire. I believe that learning a musical instrument should be enjoyable!
