Personal Description:
I am a native French speaker; I have been living in England for 15 years
I have dedicated my professional life to teaching. First, in France as a French teacher in a Secondary school and a teacher of French as a Foreign Language for International undergraduate students. Then in England, as a French tutor for children and adults.
Teaching Experience:
After School Clubs in Primary Schools and sessions with young children.
Tuition for pupils from year 9, to prepare for GCSE and A level exams.
Support for families needing to brush up their French before moving to France.
One-to-one tuitions and conversation groups for adults.
Teaching Approach:
My clients say I am friendly and patient.
I use a wide variety of methods and resources, depending on the students’ age and what they need to achieve.
Although the aim is to be able to communicate in French with confidence, I believe it is essential to have a good grounding in grammar, and spelling or pronunciation cannot be neglected; but it is not necessarily boring! I do my best to make the lessons lively and interesting.
I usually expect homework to be done between the sessions.

She listens to what my daughter wants, and does her utmost to help where she can see it is needed. She is willing to 'go the extra mile' in that she works on my daughter's behalf in several ways beyond the hour that we pay for. We would highly recommend her.
From Nicky (/5): Elisabeth is a FANTASTIC tutor - she is more than a teacher, she thinks outside the box. My child has difficulty with the listening part of the French GCSE and Elisabeth has said that this is because the French soft words are inaudable to Nicky - I have made an appointment with the Doctor as Nicky has always had problems with her ears and is now booked to have them cleared again - how many teachers would have diagnosed a physical problem with learning an academic topic. She is just brilliant. Thank you so much.

Elisabeth asked plenty of questions to discover what I wanted and to help identify my areas which needed the most improvement. I have just got back from France, and this trip I had far more confidence speaking french but I was able to understand a lot more, I would not hesitate to recommend her to any one.

From Clare (/5): It is earl;y days in the process but Elisabeth has been flexible understanding and adpatable to facilitate my daughters learning.
From Sue (/5): I have had three French language lessons with Elisabeth so far and have thoroughly enjoyed them all. Elizabeth is a very sound teacher who seems to quickly assess your ability and learning needs, and adapts her teaching method accordingly. She has a light touch but is very competent.

She encouraged me, listened to and corrected my French in a helpful manner and spoke herself in a careful way so that I could understand. After I return from my course in France, I expect to join her small conversation group.
