Information About Zoe - Edinburgh teacher - (1 review)
This is how 2 referees rated Zoe:
I am a native Greek speaker and a graduate of the Department of Greek Language and Linguistics of the University of Athens. I have always been extremely fascinated by the process of learning a new language and find myself just as passionate about teaching! You can say I am a little bit of a grammar fanatic, but I' m trying to control it and rarely scare students away these days. If anything, after all, I believe that communication is the ultimate goal of language learning and consider my job to guide, motivate and inspire the learner to engage to this never ending process!
I have been a private tutor in Greece since I was a student and am currently working as an Assistant Teacher at the Hellenic School of St. Andrews in Edinburgh. Αt the same time I deliver private lessons through distance learning and enjoy it!
The teaching methods and the supporting material are always chosen, according to the learner's goals. A student only wanting some Greek, so that they feel more comfortable in their summer holidays in Crete, has different goals and needs and therefore, demands a different approach to a student, wanting to pursue a language certificate. In any case I strongly encourage my students to expose themselves to the Greek language and culture as much as possible, so that they never stop building on what they learn during the lesson, while always trying to adapt the structure of the lessons to each student's evolving needs, using interesting and engaging content in the class.
Media such as music and movies are an essential part of the learning process and since I have a passion about history as well as politics, I always aim to incorporate these elements of the Greek culture into my lessons. After all, language learning should not be restricted to grammar and vocabulary: it's a never ending journey and I consider it the teacher's responsibility to make it as rich and fun as possible!
