Information About Wenjing - Leeds teacher

Personal Description:

Hi everyone! My name is Wenjing, I come from China and I want to help people learn more about my country and language! I love teaching and making friends and I hope I can get to know you!

I also love learning languages and I have been learning Korean in my spare time, although I am just a beginner at the moment.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught Mandarin Chinese in my spare time for the last 3 years, mainly teaching conversational Chinese and common Chinese characters. I have mainly taught face-to-face but I could alter my lessons in order to teach them online. I live in the UK and so I can teach online or in at person at any time of the day (but please no early mornings! :p).

Last year I attended a course on teaching Chinese as a foreign language in order to build on the experience I already have and learn new skills for tutoring.

Teaching Approach:

I do use a text book for part of my lessons but mainly I want to teach what you want to learn - after all, if you don't find the topic interesting how will you find the energy to learn it? I am open to teaching you things that are not in the text book if it will inspire you to learn even more.

My main aim isn't for my students to memorize text books or huge vocabulary lists but to be able to speak Chinese quickly and fluently. I place a huge emphasis on speaking in my lessons as this is a better use of valuable lesson time. I will also guide you in learning Chinese characters, but speaking will be the major element.

My lesson topics and approach is open to change! Please contact me if you have any requests! (e.g. writing focused lessons, pure oral lessons with no writing etc).
