Personal Description:

I was born in China and Mandarin Chinese is my mother tongue. As educated in China to Master's degree I am very good at Chinese language to professional level. As the jobs I was doing are Engineer, Research Fellow, Manager and Tutor, the use of Chinese and English language in all my career with written and spoken Chinese and English. As all my education was done in China to a rather high level, Master's degree, I had intensive reading, writting and speaking Chinese (Madarin) and my understanding of this language with Chinese culture is at very high level, which is much above average of all the intellectual.

Teaching Experience:

Many year experience in teaching Chinese, especially in passing HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test).

As a tutor for high school students when I was studying in Univsersity during 1973 - 1977. Teaching technology to young engineers and techniciens when I was a research fellow in a research institute in China during 1982-1988. Teaching Mandarin Chinese in Singapore as spare time work when I was a research fellow in Nanyang Technological University during 1995 - 2000. Giving training to staff when I was a manager working in Shen Zhen, China. Teaching ESOL English to Chinese people in South Glos Chinese Association during 2014 - 2016. Teaching Mandarin to non-Chinese speakers from time to time in 1988, 2002 to 2010, helping many people passing their HSK test.

Teaching Approach:

I have good understanding on the develpment of Chinese language and its charactors. Chinese characters are hieroglyphic (pictrographic), there are clues in Chinese charactors for their meaning and pronunciation. As having very deep understanding of this language I can teach learners how to pronounce a charactor and find its meaning. By doing so it is easier for learners to undetstand and remember what I teach. For spoken Mandarin Chinese I am very familisr with phonetic symbol i.e. Ping Yin and teach learners to use it in an efficient way. For written Chinese I know the structure of Chinese charactors and will teach learners a smarter way to remember and write Chinese chractors. I am good bilingal in Chinese / English I will explain well in English to learners how to understand the Chinese language and the method to learn the language.
