Personal Description:

I am a qualified European Portuguese tutor. I hold a degree in Portuguese and English studies and I have been teaching since 2005. I have taught students of all ages and abilities and I am really passionate about teaching languages. It is a real pleasure for me to see the development of my students` language skills.

Teaching Experience:

I worked as a teacher in Portugal for 6 Years. I taught Portuguese and English EFL to different age groups and different levels. I moved to London 10 years ago and since then I have been working as a freelance tutor of Portuguese.

Teaching Approach:

Generally, my lessons cover the 4 skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing). I prefer a communicative approach and I focus a lot on developing my students' speaking and listening skills. I try to adapt the course as much as possible to the student ( level, way of learning, learning goals, etc). Of course, grammar is also important, you have to know how language works to be able to use it. I like to teach grammar in context, not as something you learn by filling in the blanks and then you don't know how/when to use in speech. This is what I usually do, but each student is different and it takes one/two lessons for me to assess the student level/performance and to design an effective learning plan.

I have experience teaching Portuguese as a Foreign language to children. I use an online platform with makes learning fun and engaging for children.
