Personal Description:

สวัสดีค่ะ (Sawaddee ka)! My name is Yuki Tachaya. I am a full-time native professional Thai teacher, with over 10 years of experience in teaching Thai as a second language to non-Thais (2008-present).

I was born and grew up in Bangkok, Thailand. I speak standard Thai, officially spoken and understood by everyone in the country, as my mother language.

I graduated from one of the most prestigious universities in Thailand, "Chulalongkorn University," with a degree in liberal arts (English major), thus I speak fluent English. Besides, I have lived 5 years in the United States and I'm currently living in the United Kingdom.

Upon my graduation, I pursued my studies at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies with a concentration on "Second Language Acquisition," while receiving Japanese government scholarship.

I've always been passionate about languages and teaching. I have knowledge of 3 other foreign languages besides English, which are Japanese, French and Portuguese (each language at different levels).

My students often describe me as a very patient and friendly teacher.

Teaching Experience:

I have given in-person private Thai classes in Thailand (2008), Japan (2009-2011) and the USA (2012-2016), but I gave most classes online to people from all around the world. I have taught people with various levels of Thai knowledge, from beginners to advanced learners.

I teach and help students develop all the four key language skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing). As crazy as it may sound, I have taught many people how to read and write the Thai characters through online classes! (and of course, in-person lessons). I tailor my lessons to each student's needs and goals. You can choose to learn only conversation or you can learn how to read and write the Thai script as well. No matter what your preferences are or what you'd like to focus on, you can always let me know.

Teaching Thai is what I do for a living and most importantly, it is my passion. As I teach Thai full-time, as a student, you are also my first priority.

Teaching Approach:

I use self-developed teaching materials called "PickupThai Podcast," focusing on real and practical spoken Thai, which is rarely taught in textbooks. My materials are very unique and different from all other Thai teaching materials on the market as they're based on fun stories and funny phrases. Not only are they educating, but they're also fun to listen to! I produced these materials with a strong belief that learning a language should be a fun experience and not to be thought as something boring and difficult. Most importantly, you will not find unnatural-sounding, impractical and outdated phrases in these materials as often found in textbooks.

The materials come in forms of podcasts and study sheets. There are two versions, Thai script and transliteration. Whatever you'd prefer. All three levels are available (beginner, intermediate and advanced).

With the help of these materials, students can review the classes as many time as they want. They won't forget what they have studied in class. On top of that, I also allow students to record the live classes for their own benefits. I believe it's extremely important for them to review the lessons between classes on a regular basis, in order to make the most out of their priva**Contact Detail Removed**ssons with me.

The materials are to be purchased separately from the priva**Contact Detail Removed**ssons. One beginner lesson costs £2.35, one intermedia**Contact Detail Removed**sson costs £3.50 and one advanced lesson costs £4.25. Discounts are available when purchasing the entire course (30-33 lessons).

In case there is any specific material you would like to use, I'm willing to use them as well. For more advanced learners, I often use "real materials" such as news articles, texts from forums, blog entries or song lyrics as class materials.

I provide live one-on-one classes at your convenience via Skype (Zoom, or Teams). Wherever you are in the world, you can connect to the internet and take a live online class with me. It is very convenient and helps you save a lot of time and money. And even if you are a busy person and have a tight schedule, it is not an issue. I offer flexibility to accommodate you at the times that you prefer to meet me online. If you'd prefer to have lessons in person, I'll also be happy to meet you in Lancaster, Lancashire, with no extra charge for transportation fee.
