Personal Description:

I am 59 years old and a mother of four. In my spare time I like studying languages. Therefore I know very well what this feels like from a student's point of view.
My mother tongue is German and I lived in France for 7 years. So I naturally feel very close to both languages and the culture of their respective countries.
I speak Spanish and Italian at a fairly advanced level and would enjoy teaching these languages to beginners and refreshers.

Teaching Experience:

I started teaching English at an adult education centre in Germany in 1988. In 1990 I moved to France and taught German and English to adults and children in one to one lessons and in small groups. Since 1998 I have been living in England. Between 1998 and 2006 I taught French and German to children aged 6 to 16 years in a Rudolf Steiner School, after which I took a break for family reasons and returned to the school in 2016 to teach German until the school closed in 2019.
While I was not at the school, I taught German, French, Spanish and Italian to individual students and small groups in different settings.
Nowadays, I only teach online, mainly German, but also any of my other languages as required.

Teaching Approach:

I like my lessons to be relaxed as well as studious. My students gain the confidence that they can actually learn the language.
The lessons are made relevant through real life situations. Grammar and other "dry" bits are not studied in isolation, but always with reference to their application in real life.
Ideally the pace of the lessons is determined by the student's ability and available time for study. This way I help my students achieve their own personal best.
