Personal Description:

Hello everyone! I'm Sheridan, Nice to meet you all. Let me tell you about myself. When I'm not teaching, I'm an avid traveller, having explored 23 countries and counting! My journey is far from over, and if you share this passion for travel, we have plenty to talk about. I'm also a foodie and love discussing delicious cuisines from around the world. If you're into cooking or have some mouthwatering recommendations, I'm all ears. Feel free to enlighten me anytime!

Last but not least, I love meeting people from other countries and find it endlessly rewarding and fun to see them develop. I find it very fulfilling to be able to help learners reach their goals or realise their dreams and I always feel happy when my students are able to enter the university, or advanced in their career with the help of my lessons!

Every student I teach is unique and I love being able to horn my teaching by adapting to the different difficulties each of them face.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked and studied in different countries such as Germany, the Philippines, Australia, and in the UK for 15 years. My teaching journey began back in 2006. I started as a junior teacher at A+ and EMI academy teaching middle and high school students preparing for exams. 2 years later, I took an another role in the Philippines teaching English(grammar) from elementary to high school students, then, I designed my own curriculum for my classes at smaller company called Future English Academy, prepared student for exams. After that, I became a senior teacher at Lykeion academy, teaching TOEFL and IELTS and also helping new teachers to integrate with the teaching system in the school. From 2018 onward, I’ve run my own businesses, teaching Korean and English online and in-person, with a wide range of learners from enthusiastic 5 year olds to seasoned professionals in their 40s or 50s. I learned how to provide online lessons using multimedia to accommodate different learning style of students and leveraging the advantage of technology during my lesson.

Currently, I have taught many students from around the world and they have different but interesting professions and motives to learn languages.
For examples,
An actress/actor who is obsessed with Korean culture and language even though they have difficult pronouncing the word correctly as result of having Cerebral palsy.
A doctor who is interested in learning Korean language feels the need to learn to communicate with other people in Korean.
A (future) film director who is keen to know Korean culture and movies is passionately learning Korean.

Teaching Approach:

All my teaching experience led me to believe that learner-centred methodology (or Communicative Approach) is most effective across all the levels when it comes to language learning! Considering that the objective of learning language would be to communicate with people from other countries and learn the culture that they are interested in so being exposed to lots of vocabulary and knowing some basic rules of that language would be considered crucial through meaningful communicative activities. Therefore, I have employed lots of activities in class which was reflected on their hobbies, interests and even their learning styles. As a result, tons of students were satisfied with my classes and still continue doing the lessons with me for a long time.

As a professional teacher, I have always thought about how I could provide students with engaging & interesting materials (including Power point slides and even homework depending on their levels and availability). Not only with this but also through classes recordings, I've learned how I can improve my lessons and practiced self-reflection.

I've been trying to make more interesting class materials so hopefully I will be able to publish my own books for my class someday. Not only do I provide a good quality of teaching materials but other tutors also could benefit from it.
