Personal Description:
Graduated from the University of Durham in Modern Languages with a 2:1 - double majored in French and German. I've also worked in both France and Germany.
Teaching Experience:
I qualified as a secondary school MFL teacher in 2013 and have 5 years experience of teaching in the UK, including GCSE and A-level (old and new specifications). I also spent 4 years teaching English in Japan.
Teaching Approach:
I'm patient and good at explaining things concisely with examples. Some focus on memorising vocabulary and structures is important, but I believe in ensuring that students can manipulate the language - not only to achieve the best exam results but in order to be able to communicate using the language outside of exams, particularly in conversation. Some students enjoy languages naturally, but for many more the enjoyment comes from being successful first. I'm happy to work with strong students hoping to secure a top grade or struggling students looking to secure a pass.
