Personal Description:
I am a 52 year old French native speaker and also a French qualified teacher. I have a PGCE French with Spanish from the University of Hertfordshire.
I can offer a 5% discount if you decide to buy a block of 5 sessions and 10% for 10 sessions.
Teaching Experience:
I have 20 years experience of teaching French to pupils of many different ages, in small groups or on a one to one basis.
Teaching Approach:
I am very familiar with the curriculum from GCSE, AS/2 and the International Baccalaureate. I was an Assistant Examiner for OCR, marking French 'A' level papers. I have also taught four years as a lecturer in French at the University of Hertfordshire. I am currently teaching for a defence company.

From Indra (/5): I have no hesitation recommending Sarah as a French teacher. She is passionate and incredibly patient. I was looking for conversational French, which she has helped me with but she also hasn’t neglected the need to understand grammatical French and the importance of building up vocabulary. The best thing about Sarah is her sense of humour, she often has me in hysterics with her views on things. Lessons with her are always enjoyable therefore.

After just a few sessions with Sarah I felt a lot more confident on several aspects of my french knowledge. Sarah and her whole family are very welcoming and friendly.

She uses a variety of techniques and has a wealth of learning resources. My French has improved in just the 10 lessons I have had. I would recommend her highly if you want to learn or improve your French from a native French speaker.

I feel she provides what the student wants and does it in a way that involves one in the language. I always come away feeling that I have learned something new, and I have!
Sarah's technique does not put any pressure on one, like so many entirely book based only courses do.
She is a very pleasant and engaging person and I would recommend her most highly.

From Alison (/5): Sarah helped my son with his French literature exam. He enjoyed the lesson and it was a pleasure meeting Sarah. She was enthusiastic, encouraging and had some great reference tools. She couldn't have been more helpful and I only wish we had met her sooner. We will definitely ask Sarah for more lessons in the future.

The lessons were very flexible and Sarah encouraged me to extend my listening and reading of French outside the lessons too, to get the most from the sessions. I've found my vocabulary and confidence in speaking has really improved. I was fortunate to visit relations in France over Christmas and they commented on how well I was speaking and that they really noticed a difference in the ease of maintaining a conversation. I would highly recommend Sarah as a tutor.
