Personal Description:

Hiya, I'm Ruixuan (Sabrina). Native Chinese. For the past seven years, I have given classroom teaching, private tuitions and online tuitions to children and adults at all level in London. I've taught complete beginners, primary school, GCSE, A-Level and HSK courses using materials provided by students and those designed by myself. I love languages. Languages I have learned and am still learning include English, Spanish, German, Japanese and Somali. I have also done my PhD in African languages and cultures. Whenever I pick up grammar points and words in different foreign languages, I compare them with each other and sum up their similarities and individualities. No matter you are new to Chinese language and culture or have some background, I can provide lessons that to the maximum extent suit your need. Most importantly, learning Mandarin is fun with me. Apart from the joy, you can also get a solid understanding of grammars, detailed explanation of characters and words as well as plenty time of listening and speaking practice in each session. I also do Chinese calligraphy. I'd be more than happy to help improve your handwriting if you are an advanced student. I currently can teach from either central London or online. Teaching Experience:

For the past seven years, I have given classroom teaching, private tuitions and online tuitions to children and adults at all level in London. I've taught complete beginners, primary school kids, GCSE, A-Level and university students as well as professionals with a need to learn Mandarin for work. I also do student-centred lessons for half Chinese and British-born Chinese students.

Teaching Approach:

For complete beginners, you won't be needing any textbooks for the lessons. We will start from the pronunciations with a focus on the tones, then move on to small conversations and soon, to characters and how to properly write them. For each lesson we will cover a short dialogue on a certain daily communication topic and pick up vocabularies and one or two grammar points. I try to make my own text materials to meet the student's need. The session will involve plenty of listening and speaking practice. It will be fun.
For students who have got some background in Chinese, I design either more conversational or text-based classes to suit your needs. I can recommend textbooks for you or use the materials you have already got. For students at a higher level or of Chinese origin, the lessons can be completely in Chinese. For school kids who are taking Mandarin classes at school, I could provide them with after-school tutoring to help them improve.
