Personal Description:

I am a dedicated, approachable tutor of German from beginners to advanced level (C1). I hold C1 and C2 level German qualifications myself and previously lived and worked in Frankfurt as a translator.

I currently work full-time for Historic England alongside tutoring and am also a writer and poet. I'm a creative, detail-orientated person always striving to improve things - from my plants, dancing and cooking, to the knowledge and confidence of my students.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring English (Literature and Language), ESOL and German for more than 4 years. My students range from primary school (6+) children to GCSE, A Level and IB students, right up to degree level and adult language learners.

I have worked through various tutoring websites for several years, as a freelancer, and in museum and cultural settings. I have had great success with GCSE and A-Level results in particular, regularly achieving top grades with my students.

Teaching Approach:

I take a holistic, practical approach to teaching and use a variety of media in my lessons. Learning a language is best achieved through a variety of audio, visual, speaking and writing tasks. My lessons are creative and I value non-traditional methods, using podcasts, movie trailers, poems and articles to improve students' understanding.

I always include my students in the learning process, clarifying their aims and needs before we start the process. If a student has a particular interest or goal - for example, communicating with a partner, working in Germany or accessing German cultural forms - we can work this into our lessons.
