Information About Rupinder - City of London teacher

Personal Description:

I am in my mid-twenties and have lived in London for six years. During this time I have completed my undergraduate degree and lived in Spain for a year, where I worked as an English Teacher. I enjoy teaching because I think it is important to help those looking for work in the UK and abroad.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught English for over two years and have experience teaching both groups and ono-to-one classes. I have instructed learners from different nationalities, different ages and at all levels.

I have not taught Spanish in an academy or school, but I have offered to help friends and family who are trying to learn Spanish, or whose children need help with Spanish for school. I speak the language fluently, and find that it helps to be a non-native speaker, as I can explain a lot of the rules and break the language down into more manageable pieces. So far, I have received very positive feedback.

Teaching Approach:

I usually ask students about their biggest concern and focus on this as well as the in which I feel they are struggling with in the language. After dealing with the most common errors, I then move on to more complex structures. I always focus on all four areas: Reading; Writing; Speaking; and Listening.

I feel the most effective way to help students learn, is to adopt a method that is best suited to them. Everybody learns differently, so it is important to use a method that works best for the individual. Finally, I do not think learning should be a chore, it should be enjoyable and relaxing, which is why I try to make my students feel at ease and happy to be in class.
