Information About Rita - York teacher

Personal Description:

I am a German teacher and have lived in Germany for 10 years. I love teaching German and travelling to Germany.
I've recently completed a CELTA course and have now branched out to teaching English as an additional/foreign lanaguage, which I'm loving.
I now have my own language school, where I teach Business German as well as online languages globally.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught for 26 years and GCSE for 24 years. I have been consistently judged by ofsted inspectors as 'Outstanding' and my GCSE results are Outstanding every year, beating national figures. I have taught in various schools in Yorkshire and with Service Children's Education in Germany. For the past 15 years I have been Head of MFL and am also currently the Lead Practitioner for Teaching and Learning. I provide training to our staff and coach new members of staff.
I now teach English to Key Stage 2/3 pupils and also to adults or students who are learning English as an additional or foreign language.

Teaching Approach:

I have excellent rapport with my students, as I use humour and a variety of teaching strategies, which cater for all learning styles. I am used to tutoring pupils and adults and have a high success rate. I plan lessons meticulously and am very encouraging. I can motivate and inspire students, but also challenge them to perform beyond their expected grades. Students need to feel success and have a series of challenging but achievable short term goals.
