Personal Description:

I am a very passionate, dedicated and experienced Teacher of English as a Foreign Language, with a particular focus on OET preparation. I have Certificates in both TEFL and TESOL as well as a Bachelor of Arts Degree, a Diploma in Offshore Finance and Administration and a Diploma in Hospitality Management. I am extremely patient and I have a genuine passion for helping students learn and/or improve their English. I have a neutral accent and a very good ear for detecting specific problems with pronunciation and grammar. I have travelled extensively and apart from living in the UK, I have also lived in countries such as Malta, South Africa, Cambodia, Thailand, China and Sri Lanka.

Teaching Experience:

I began Teaching English 18 years ago and have worked for a number of language schools in the UK, Malta, Cambodia and China, which has included both classroom and online teaching.
I have extensive teaching experience, covering all age groups, all levels and most types of English needs.
My students have included children as young as 3 years old, teenagers, university students and professional adults, and their levels have ranged from absolute beginner all the way to advanced.
I am experienced in teaching: General English, Business English, English for Hospitality / Tourism purposes, helping students prepare for their IELTS and OET exams and specific lessons aimed at phonics and pronunciation.

Teaching Approach:

I am a very thorough and dedicated teacher and I understand the importance of planning lessons to suit individual students' needs. I always assess my students' requirements, problem areas and reasons for learning English so that I can plan personalised lessons accordingly. I aim to incorporate all areas of English language learning into my lessons (reading, writing, listening and speaking), with particular focus on pronunciation. I am a very encouraging and positive teacher and I always strive to create fun, interesting lessons by including songs, poetry, games and activities, where possible. Most importantly, I understand that every student is different and I do not take a one-size-fits-all approach.
