Personal Description:
I am a full-time Purchasing Team leader working in manufacturing who would like to continue to use my ability to speak French in my spare time. I love speaking French to others, and have enjoyed living, working and travelling extensively in France over the past 15 years. My time at university was spent studying French law and translation, alongside my studies in Law. I lived in Lyon for a year studying at the University Jean-Moulin Lyon III, and passed my final French oral examination with a distinction (over 70 marks). I have taken part in French conversation classes at Queen's University to keep my spoken standard of French up, and have also attended French grammar and pronunciation classes when my schedule has permitted.
Teaching Experience:
I have tutored GCSE and A-level pupils from home in the past 5 years, mainly for their French oral examinations. I cover the key subject areas that can be questioned during these exams, in line with the current syllabus.
Teaching Approach:
My approach is to get the pupil speaking as much as possible! This builds confidence and skill, and I find that over a few sessions each pupil becomes more comfortable chatting in French. I adapt my approach according to each new pupil's current standard, with the aim of covering all of the required examination material well in advance of the exam date. I find that just having someone different to listen and gently correct can help to give less confident pupils the encouragement not to give up. I will not contradict anything taught by a pupil's school teacher, but know that the extra practice at speaking will show in each pupil's performance.
