Information About Phil - Kenilworth teacher

Personal Description:

Hello my name is Phil and I'm a bilingual French and German speaker who has over 12 years experience of teaching both French and German to GCSE and A Level.

I have taught Oxbridge candidates as well as SEND students and have been an examiner for the AQA GCSE speaking exam component.

I have a Masters in Translation and have worked in the business world before teaching, which means I can link students language learning to real life contexts.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in both the state and independent sectors as a classroom teacher initially and latterly as Head of department. This extensive experience as Head of French and Head of MFL means that I have a deep knowledge of the requirements for success at GCSE and A Level.

I have taught French and German to Years 7 to 13 and have also produced business translations.

My NPQML qualification focused on how to develop and improve students success at listening to a foreign language in the classroom.

Teaching Approach:

I employ a variety of techniques and teaching styles to suit the individual leaner in order to engage them and capture their enthusiam.
I enjoy linking students language learning to their wider school curriculum so that they can see how their language acquisition will benefit their other subjects. Having extensive experience of teaching exam classes I am passionate about ensuring students understand the success criteria for the language they are learning so that they can see how small improvements will lead to improved results for them.
