Hola amigos!
*** Congratulations to all my students who took their IGCSE and GCSE exams in 2022. So far, all got either a level 8 or a level 9. I am so proud of all of you. Thank you very much for your hard work! ***
I am a native Spanish tutor from Valencia, Spain. My teaching career began at a prestigious language school affiliated to Cambridge University.
I specialise in offering private language tuition to young students preparing for their Spanish IGCSE/GCSE and A Level exams, as well as Cambridge Pre-U and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, in a wide range of schools all over the world (including USA, Hong Kong and New Zealand), boarding schools in the UK such as Winchester College, The Leys School, Oundle School, The King's School, Cheltenham College and Oswestry School, as well as public schools in Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire including Berkhamsted School, St Albans High School for Girls, Haberdashers' Aske's Boys' School, Haberdashers' Aske's School for Girls, Dr Challoner's High School, Dr Challoner's Grammar School, Abbot's Hill School, Duncombe School, etc.
I am familiar and up to date with the new GCSE 9 - 1 grading system and confident teaching the recently introduced A Level units, books and films for both AQA and Edexel exam boards.
Many students have come to me with low and even failing school grades, often due to the poor way Spanish is taught in schools. After just a few sessions, they have seen significant improvement in their grades, a huge confidence boost and a new found love for the subject. Some of my students have won the Spanish Academic Award and many have come top of their class.

Absolutely Amazing Tutor!
Paula is fantastic!
She really goes out of her way to explain and organise every session with you. I could not have asked for any better! In one session, Paula explained grammar topics and boosted the confidence of my daughter! She even created worksheets and folders for revision. She is conscientious, a good planner and will immediately focus on what needs to be covered! Paula also has a nice, calm and friendly demeanour which many children would love. She immediately captured my daughter's interest and that helps a great deal in the learning a language process and doing well in the tests and examinations. So happy to have her!

All the tuition has been conducted remotely, which has worked well allowing flexibility of the timing of his lessons and he has enjoyed the lessons with her. We haven't got his actual GCSE result back yet, but he did get a 9 in his mock exam, evidencing the great job that Paula has done.

From Tania (/5): So lucky to have found Paula. She is a wonderful Spanish tutor. Incredibly patient and kind, she got the very best out of both my sons. One had found Spanish in general quite difficult the other found it easier but wanted to improve his speaking skills. Both have now widened their Spanish vocabulary and their accents are excellent. As a result of a Paula’s tutoring they achieved top marks for their GCSE Spanish and Institute of Linguists exams. One of my sons continues to have lessons with Paula now even though he is not taking Spanish for A level as he wants to continue to develop his Spanish further. Completely his choice but clearly thoroughly enjoys learning with her.

From James (/5): We contacted Paula shortly before our daughter was due to take her GCSE Spanish Oral as she was feeling a little nervous about it. Our daughter was not sure if a tutor would help but after the first hour Paula had boosted her confidence and given her a lot of helpful feedback. We asked Paula to come back each week during the GCSE exams and she was extremely helpful both during the sessions and by providing exercises for self-study.

Due to her dedication and patience my Spanish has improved so much; not only is she enthusiastic during our lessons but also always provides extra materials outside our class. From Shirley (/5): I have just completed session 6 with Paula.I was very nervous before the first class, but Paula put me at ease immediately and spoke to me in Spanish as soon as she met me at the door.She is a very smiley person, very professional and conversation ranges over all kinds of subjects which I couldn't have imagined before after being at a U3A beginners class.I have homework mainly in the form of expressive writing, and although I have to look up many words it is helping me to understand the structure of the language and to think in Spanish.I am motivated, at the age of 75, to learn more, and of course to speak more.

From Anna (/5): Paula is a fantastic tutor - she completely put me at my ease in my first lesson, gave me the confidence to try speaking Spanish despite my nerves about sounding silly, was always encouraging, and explained things in a way which made it easy to understand. Above all, she made our lessons fun and I would have no hesitation in recommending her to anyone who wanted to learn Spanish.

From Pauline (/5): Excellent. My daughter needed exam specific help for her A2 paper and having visited Paula for 5 two hour sessions, we are delighted with the tuition Paula has provided. Paula is so organised in her approach and quickly identified areas where my daughter most needed help. Specific work was set by Paula to improve her skills and she has gained in confidence as a result. Most importantly, Paula was familiar with the exam board and texts my daughter studies and so could get straight to it with no time wasted. I would thoroughly recommend Paula.

From Jo (/5): Started with Paula after my daughter's school changed the teacher every term this school year. Paula was very welcoming, and assessed for weak areas before working on strengthening them. She immediately knew how best to work with my daughter and after only 3hrs of lessons my daughter has gone into her school exams with a new level of confidence. Very professional approach.

From Jennifer (/5): I had ten lessons with Paula from August-October 2014 in order to improve on my intermediate level Spanish. I found Paula really easy to get along with and the lessons always flew by. Paula totally adapted the lessons to fit my interests, for example bringing reading and lesson material that matched my hobbies and interests, but which also improved my vocabulary and grammar. She is fantastic to talk with and I felt totally at ease. She is very flexible around when, where and for how long you want lessons and around your learning style and goals. I'd highly recommend Paula!
