Personal Description:
Hello there,
I am languages graduate from the University of Warwick with a distinction in Italian language. Although born and raised in the UK I grew up with an Italian parent so I am bilingual in both Italian and English which I find really helps when teaching languages to students in their native tongue.
I spent a considerable number of years in Italy and France teaching English to foreign nationals and since being back in London I have taught basic french to individuals and groups of all ages. However, I specialise in Italian where I teach all levels ranging from complete beginner to the accomplished speaker, as well as business Italian for professionals.
My teaching methods vary and depend on the ages, groups or individuals and their own personal goals. I have always found the only way to learn and be confident in another language is by speaking, speaking at every opportunity. No doubt mistakes will be made but this is how we learn.
Teaching Experience:
French - I have taught primary and secondary school level individuals in basic up to GCSE standard.
Italian - I have taught all levels in Italian from primary school up to adults and professionals where Italian is used in the workplace. Due to being bilingual in Italian and English I am able to carefully explain and articulate the rules behind certain tenses and regular and irregular verbs.
English for foreign nationals - During my years in Italy and France I have taught English as a foreign language to all ages and backgrounds.
Teaching Approach:
I firmly believe that the only way to learn a language is to become completely immersed in it, this can be through reading, listening, writing and speaking exercises. I encourage students to speak only in the desirable language and only when we're tackling detailed grammatical exercise will I use English to explain why certain tenses and verbs are used in the way they are.
