Personal Description:

I am a native speaker, having lived in the UK for over thirty years.
I have a professional teaching qualification (PGCE) and taught for years in secondary schools. I have also tutored many over the years, both in small classes and one to one lessons, preparing students for GCSE, A Level, as well as the french professional exams Delf B1, B2 and C1. Several of my students now work in France.
I understand the language well, use a variety of material in order to make lessons more interesting and put emphasis on a pleasant, relaxed approach in lessons in order to enjoy the process.

Teaching Experience:

PGCE from Nottingham University.
13 years teaching experience in secondary schools. Tutor since 2014 to secondary schools students, university students, as well as adults of all ages and all abilities.
Also worked as a tutor on Evening classes for years both in Derbyshire and Staffordshire.

Teaching Approach:

I have found the first issue with learning a new language is often reluctance to speak because the learner is self-conscious and uncomfortable. For that reason the atmosphere of the lesson very important. It has to be relaxed, conversational, and enjoyable. I include discussion of aspects of french culture into the lesson to make it more alive. All lessons are adapted specifically to individuals and their requirements. Someone wanting to spend two weeks in France for example, will be encouraged to ask questions and understand key phrases while someone more interested in the language and wanting to have lengthy conversations will need more emphasis on grammar as well as higher listening skills. Learning from a native speaker is vital for correct prononciation, expressions and tone that will make you sound more natural and a full understanding of the grammar.
