Information About Nour - Northampton teacher

Personal Description:

My name is Nour. I am a native Arabic speaker from Syria. I have a degree in Economics and specialised in Business management. Having had previous experience in teaching as well as administrative and voluntary roles has allowed me to be adaptable and flexible with my approach with adults and children.

Teaching Experience:

Over the past few years I have worked in schools as a teaching assistant and gained experience of working with children as well as adults. I have been teaching Arabic for five years now, this includes both standard Arabic and Levantine dialect(Syria, lebanon,Jordan ,palestine).

Over the years I have taught students from many different backgrounds and nationalities at all levels, ranging from primary to adult and complete beginners to semi fluent speakers.
I am dedicated to helping students achieve their full potential. I believe in making the process of learning as enjoyable, satisfying and simple as possible. As a bilingual myself I feel knowing more than one language is a skill and every individual should have the opportunity to learn another language, whether it’s for fun, academic or purely for learning and development purposes.

Teaching Approach:

Before beginning any lessons, I ask my students about their level of understanding of the language, why they want to learn - I ask his to understand their motivations so that I can prepare and teach the lessons in a way that they get the most out of it. In addition to this, I ask other questions that I feel will help me prepare and establish the right approach based on their needs, goals and level. At the start of the first lesson, I begin the lesson by getting to know the student a bit more and ensure that the planned session will still meet their needs. If at anytime the goal or need of the student changes then I will adapt to their requirements and change my approach accordingly. Based on the students needs and the details they provide to me, I then create an individual plan to suit each student, which of course I revisit every so often to ensure it is still working for the student. This allows me to change the intensity or level of teaching if the student is finding it difficult, but also allows me to prepare the student to move onto the next stage if and when they are ready.
