Personal Description:
Hello, I am Milim from South Korea. I was educated in Korea and have lived in the Northwest for 10 years. I have a Certificate of Korean Language Teacher Level 2 and have taught students in Korea and the UK since 2003.
Teaching Experience:
I have more than a 10-year of experience teaching Korean as well as English. I worked as an English teacher in middle schools (i.e. secondary school) in Korea after passing a national employment exam in 2002. I also gained knowledge and expertise in teaching a second language by completing the TESOL programme in 2006. Since May 2017, I have worked as a Korean language tutor for diverse students from secondary school students to full-time workers. All of the students had different backgrounds and language levels, so I prepared and developed suitable learning resources.
Teaching Approach:
I have tried to work to improve the tutees' communicative skills based on the firm knowledge of Korean grammar and language structures. Most language learners aged 14 and more have basic language cognitive systems, so finding out grammar rules and applying those to authentic use will be effective for quick learning. I tried to introduce new concepts of language forms by making learners exposed to the target language first and explain the rules of how to use them according to their needs.
I have also a friendly approach to students and am happy to work as an individual tutor and also with a small group. I have found home tutoring to be extremely rewarding and enjoy seeing the progress that students make. I am happy to teach all ages from young children to adults who require language tuition for work or holidays or pleasure. Lessons are tailored to the individual needs of each student.

From Liam (/5): I have had three lessons with 미림씨 and I am really enjoying my lesson time. She is very good with helping to remember previous phrases and pronounciation and is understanding that some of the sounds are difficult for a westerner and is not too strict, working towards perfection rather than immediately demanding it. She is also very flexible with times for lessons as I work shifts so I cannot do the same time every week. I am sure I will continue to enjoy future lessons with 미림씨 and highly recommend her. She is always on time, patient, polite and professional but very friendly and is great at explaining Korean history and culture which is appreciated when understanding Korean grammar and phraseology.

She has a very organised structure to each class, which helps consolidate and affirm the topic. She encourages when mistakes are made and supports areas where practice is required. She has also helped with setting homework from each lesson and guides how best to practice at home.

She makes sure that the lesson content is at an appropriate level, while providing stretch (e.g… additional vocabulary, grammar and idiomatic expressions) where useful. She makes use of techniques for helping you as the student come to the answers, which makes it easier to understand and later recall what you've learned, and her explanations are very thorough.
Milim is also extremely friendly and patient, always offering to answer any questions about the language and life in Korea. I would definitely recommend!

We have gone at a pace that is suited to me and she is very flexible with timing and lesson content. Her lessons are well structured and she provides lots of interesting and challenging materials.
