I have worked as a teacher of English as a Foreign Language in London and Germany after achieving my CELTA in 2014. Through my A Level in German and my year abroad working in Germany, I have become fluent in German, with a good knowledge of the language. Aside from my interest in languages I am a keen musician.
The last year I worked as an English and Business English Teacher in Stuttgart in Germany for Wall Street English. Before that I worked in Language Link London and Active Learning language schools in London, after achieving my CELTA. In these schools I have gained a wide range of experience, teaching students from 10 to 60 years old with all levels of experience. I mainly taught Business English to businesspeople in Stuttgart and have taken classes from 1 to 20 participants.
I always listen closely to my students' wishes and needs for their language learning and tailor my course to them. I believe an emphasis on speaking is important, as it is so often the most difficult area of language learning to achieve and is often not given enough importance. I believe grammar is important but I always take an interesting and fun approach to learning grammar and do it in a way which will help people to remember, through practical usage rather than gap fills.

Within a few months, my verbal communication had vastly improved and this assisted me greatly within my time spent in Munich.
I had previously attended group classes in the previous years but I felt within only a few months of having a private Tutor that I had learned more within those three months than I had within my group classes combined.
She is a very approachable, patient and knowledgeable teacher, settling any anxiety I may have had about attending a private Tutor beforehand very quickly who makes the lessons both enjoyable and productive.
If you have any hesitations, I can assure you that I highly recommend her as a teacher and upon my return from Munich I have continued to attend lessons with Melissa ever since.
Melissa has been giving piano lessons to my 14yr old daughter for two years now. My daughter now loves playing the piano and I'm sure Melissa's inspiration went a long way for this.
My daughter sat grades 1&2 exams and in both she passed with ''Distinction' !
Melissa is very approachable, her communication is crystal clear, she always is flexible if the lesions need to be reorganised. She listens to what I and my daughter would like to happen and always plans the lessons accordingly.
My daughter wouldn't miss her piano lessons for anything ( which is quite unusual for a 14yr old with so much to do on her phone, computer, Xbox and so many other gadgets) - she wasn't very happy when we had to cancel her last week's lesson due to the snow.
Melissa is the perfect tutor. Her guidance and inspiration has made playing the piano a very enjoyable experience- which means my daughter now has a friend in her piano for the rest of her life.
I thoroughly enjoyed my first lesson, and time went past very quickly.
