Teaching Experience:

Language Mediator and Teacher in social projects (20h par week)

• Act as an important source of information and interpretation for linguistic minorities who are then able to gain access to information only found in the dominant language and mainstream institutions, and to communicate with Italian monolingual speakers in order to acquire goods and services not available in ethnic communities.
• Teaching Italian as a second language (L2) to immigrant pupils of a multicultural school (Comprehensive School G. Verga, Piazza dell’Origlione, Palermo) and projects participants that attended association courses.

Teaching Approach:

Communicative Approach to become communicatively competent, able to use language appropriate for a given social context; to manage the process of negotiating meaning with interlocutors. My goal is to facilitate students' learning by managing classroom activities, setting up communicative situations. Students are communicators, actively engaged in negotiating meaning. Students work at discourse level. They work on speaking, listening, reading, and writing from the beginning. Consistent focus on negotiated meaning. E-learning and Computer Assisted Language Learning.
