Personal Description:
I am a friendly and outgoing person that enjoys travelling and sharing experiences. I have lived in various cities in Spain and in the UK, and that has enhanced my communication skills and made me aware that we all have different ways to learn. I work and live in Sheffield.
Teaching Experience:
I currently work as a Food Science technician at Sheffield Hallam University, helping academics to deliver quality teaching and supporting students in laboratory practicals. Previously, I worked as a Spanish teaching assistant for A-levels and KS3 supporting students with the main classes and preparing them for their speaking and writing exams. In Spain, I worked as a Spanish and Biology private tutor for highschool and university students, as well as a museum tour guide or "Science cheerleader" for groups and individuals of all ages. I have been a languages student myself when learning English, Catalan, French, Portuguese , Polish and Chinese so I know how it feels.
Teaching Approach:
I always try to go further than usual academic lessons, supporting them with other methods, making the student enjoy and learn at the same time. When I was working as a Spanish teaching assistant the teacher Jonathan Burton told me once "I can say that you really like what you do".

Overall the experience has been great and while like anything you need to put in the work to get results, Maria is an excellent teacher and we're committed to continuing our lessons with her. On a personal level she is also friendly and has a good sense of humour, which definitely aids the learning process.

Maria is great and a good person. Ive had 5 lessons now and I know a lot more Spanish than before. Maria keeps it simple and goes along at my pace. She is patient and lets me asks questions and set the pace of lessons. Maria is very reliable and keeps in touch with me. Lessons go quickly and are fun and interactive too. I feel that, for me you have to persevere when trying to learn a new language and hopefully with Marias help I will eventually be able to speak to a decent enough level and understand Spanish. Its up to me/you how far you take it.
