Personal Description:
Hello! I am a highly experienced teacher of German and French having taught both for 20 years. I have taught up to A Level in German and GCSE French, teaching students of all abilities and age ranges. I have a BA Honours degree in Business Management, German and Italian and a PGCE in German and SEN. I lived in Bavaria and studied at Regensburg University, where I further developed my love of the German language and culture. I believe that anybody can learn a language and have spent many years listening to adults say "I really wish I had worked hard in my language lessons". It has always been my mission to ensure that none of my students repeat that phrase when they are older! I recently qualified as a teacher of English as a Foreign Language on-line and feel that my teaching experience will benefit students of all ages and abilities in the new digital world of teaching. I am a bubbly, enthusiastic teacher who loves to see the 'light bulb' moment - when a student starts to feel confident in a new language. I know the challenges of learning a language, because I have learnt the languages myself - I feel this is an advantage as I know from first hand experience the issues that a new learner encounters and will be able to work alongside you to overcome them.
Teaching Experience:
I have taught for my entire career, as well as being a Headteacher and Senior Leader. I have taught in Grammar Schools, Independent Schools and Academies. I have extensive experience of teaching German at Key Stage 3 to GCSE and A Level and French to GCSE level and have experience of the main exam boards and was a former German GCSE Speaking test examiner.
I have completed the CELTA course (Certificate of English Language Teaching for Adults), teaching groups of students on-line from all around the world. I am experienced in teaching students from Elementary to Upper Intermedia**Contact Detail Removed**vel. I am also able to teach Business English to Upper Intermedia**Contact Detail Removed**vel.
Teaching Approach:
I believe in a highly interactive teaching environment - coupled with clear explanations and lots of opportunities to use the language in as many different contexts as possible. I have high standards and expectations, but these are always underpinned with fully differentiated fun activities, interesting and current resources and an atmosphere of rigour and "you can do this!". All of my lessons are planned around the needs of the learner - in terms of what they want to achieve and what they need to learn to be able to do this. I use a variety of metacognitive strategies to ensure that the learning is long term and provide a planned curriculum to ensure that previously learnt information is kept fresh and alive in the memory via the sequencing and interleaving of the topics taught.

LyndseyFrom Sarah (5/5): Lyndsey is personable, bubbly and outgoing. She has excellent subject knowledge and tutors in a very informal and fun way. She immediately made my daughter feel very comfortable and welcomed and not only is her German improving but her confidence is too. Lyndsey is also very patient and sensitive to individual needs and allows time for my daughter to grasp new concepts. I would recommend her to anyone.

Lyndsey is very familiar with the curriculum and has taught material that was not covered at school. We are pleased to have got a regular tuition slot with Lyndsey.

Lyndsey’s approach is very professional and enabled him to immediately feel more settled, confident and gain a sense of enjoyment from learning this language. Lyndsey has a lot of experience and that is used to great affect in her tutoring approach, quickly gaining an understanding of my son’s needs and style and adapting to that. Sessions have been inclusion and fun - Patrick can see the passion Lyndsey has for languages and this has really helped him. Everything is clearly explained and really good resource material to work with and good communication with us. Patrick said 'great teaching methods and great teacher' - he has enjoyed the sessions and going away with so much more confidence pre exam - thank you Lyndsey! From Lale (/5): My daughter did poorly on her German speaking exam, after couple of speaking lessons, She did a good grade in the next exam. Now both of my kids take reading and listening lessons and they are very happy with progress they achieved in short time.

From Harry (/5): Would 100% recommend Lyndsey to anyone! Despite only being weeks away from GCSEs, we managed to settle in straight away with a tutoring plan, which has been extremely helpful and has made my speaking exam feel a lot less stressful than it previously would have been.

Following a relocation, my son has joined a new school, he's taking German for the first time and has a significant gap in his learning having been learning French at his previous school. Lyndsey is very enthusiastic about languages and has absolutely the right personality to tutor my 13 year old son, fun, energetic, adaptable and very pleasant. My son spoke to a few tutors so he could choose who he felt could support him the best with his learning, there was really no competition, Lyndsey was very obviously the best choice. In our first meeting, I really appreciated that she immediately spoke to my son, engaging him in conversation, she actively listened to what he had to say, her experience of teaching in school is very clearly apparent. I already feel that I would be comfortable to recommend Lyndsey. My son is looking forward to working with her over the coming months.

From Caroline (/5): Lovely lady teaching my son (nearly 6) german over zoom. She is applying pictures/ slideshows, videos and sometimes interactive games. My son actually decides whether he likes the lesson and wants to continue and he says he loves them. Its like play time. Reason for 4 stars is because its not face to face but she lives in england and i in wales even with a pandemic that wouldnt work anyway. And sometimes because iam from Germany and she is from a different part there is a different dialect/ pronounciation which iam not used to but that cant be helped either. But she is making it work well online and I think no matter where in Germany my son needs to comunicate in the future he can, with her help. She has rescheduled lessons when she waited for me and i had missed them, free of charge as well. Also good value for money compared to other hefty prices for languages on this site.

Never having learnt German before, her great knowledge and clear experience in teaching the subject were incredibly helpful and instantly made me feel as though I was in good hands. Her combination of speaking and listening exercises as well as detailed PowerPoints and vocabulary give a complete learning experience that constantly feels fresh and exciting.
