Information About Lodovico - Chester teacher - (7 reviews)
This is how 2 referees rated Lodovico:
I graduated at University of Chester in English and I am a qualified teacher ( CELTA/ESOL Certificate from University of Cambridge.) of languages. I am an Italian national who has settled in the UK since 2004.
I am fluent in Italian ( my mother tongue) and Spanish due to long years of study and residency in Colombia, South America.
I have taught for seven years Spanish, Italian and English for speakers of other languages in different environments and educational establishments: state schools ( KS3, KS4, KS5 ), companies, private tuition sessions to prepare GCSE-IGCSE-A-levels students at home for their exams- students normally achieving A, A* results depending on their commitment- and coursework and adults for a variety of purposes ( tourism, business, work, personal interest etc.) I can cater for one-to-one tuition sessions to groups of students up to 20. I can adapt my resources to different types of studying environments: schools, home, clubs etc. I also prepare speakers of other languages for their exams in English as Second Language ( First Certificate, Cambridge Advanced and Cambridge Proficiency).
I always try to create a safe environment with learners. This basically means that the student must feel at ease and not be afraid to use the Target Language,i.e. the language he/she is learning. I like to know my students because it is only by means of a thorough assessment of their abilities that an effective teaching can be delivered.
From the point of view of the student it is not so important the amount of grammar that a learner may know, as the willingness to-as we language teachers say- 'take the risk' and speak whatever amount of Spanish or Italian he/she has learnt so far without fear. This can only be achieved if between the student and the teacher there is reciprocal collaboration, respect, and most importantly, support from the teacher. That is why I like to be approachable- at all levels and with all abilities- in order to encourage the students to use the Target Language as much as possible.
Languages need to flow freely, regardless of mistakes, mispronunciation, etc.
Finally, the amount of academic preparation a teacher can have is worthless if this teacher is not able to establish an educational bond with the learners.
The good teacher is not the one who can write dozens of books on language theory, but the one who has the talent to transmit effectively this knowledge by making it simple to understand.
And that is why I prefer simplicity and clarity when teaching languages.
