Personal Description:
Hello!
I've taught French, Spanish, and Italian for roughly 10 years. I lived between France and the UK for a few years, studied at the Sorbonne in Paris, later working as a reporter, translator, and editor for Diario SUR in Málaga, Spain.
After graduating with a 1st and distinction in Modern European Languages BA (Hons) from the University of Liverpool in 2015, I went on to teach privately and work in secondary-schools, while undertaking a further journalism qualification.
Now based in London, I work as an editor but tutor for enjoyment.
Being multilingual has given me the opportunity to make once-in-a-lifetime memories — I'd love to help you make your own, too :)

Teaching Approach:
All my classes are tailored based on a student's personal goals and abilities. While I feel a bit of structure is useful, I always try to accommodate depending on what you'd like to achieve. I firmly believe age, ability, educational background, and aims shouldn't deter anyone from enjoying learning a language.
I'm happy to use the materials you have, depending on your study motivations, but tend to use Schaum's for grammar. I like to ensure you feel you can approach me and feel safe making mistakes around me, as it's important to be able to trust your tutor in order to learn happily and effectively.
I like to ensure all my students have the grammatical "cement" ready before starting to build the "bricks" of French, Spanish, or Italian vocabulary into full sentences. I also enjoy teaching students to overcome tricky hurdles in pronunciation, which allow them to achieve more "native-level" language abilities.
I'm familiar with WJEC, AQA, OCR, and EDEXCEL boards.
I use Google Docs to track students' progress and you can drop me an email any time.

Ruqayyah is a fantastic professional tutor and we look forward to learning more with her.
I really enjoy teaching Jawad very much and am excited to see him continue progressing in Spanish :)
Your grammar level and range of vocab was already very good and you're sounding more and more French every day! Keep up the work with the accent practice and you'll soon find people think you're French when you're talking :)
My children love her and have come on so much with their Spanish since Ruqayyah has been teaching them.
I love teaching Lizzy and Anna :) Lizzy has a crazy memory considering she's only seven and Anna is amazing at spelling, presentation and attention to detail! She's very mature for a ten-year-old
They both have lovely manners and great potential in Spanish - thank you so much for choosing me as your teacher!
Lessons are always tailored, and they are always productive, fun and challenging, and the homework she sets is always really helpful.
Ruqayyah is a lovely person, so helpful and patient, and I can't wait to continue my lessons :)
She's already come to the class with good knowledge of Spanish and is very proactive with the homework I set her - I'm impressed with her ability to absorb the amount of information we pack into our sessions and am really pleased with her progress so far
If she carries on as she is, she'll be fluent in no time!
Ruqayyah is a really friendly tutor and always professional. The lessons are fun and we laugh a lot but they are very structured and focused towards what I want to achieve.
I am Dyslexic and she is very flexible with her teaching and is understanding of my needs. She is always well prepared for the lessons, and always happy to re-cover material that I have found difficult, or go into it further if I need more explanation or understanding. Her knowledge of languages really helps with understanding how to form sentences correctly and my pronunciation has improved very quickly.
Ruqayyah has been amazing and I have found my tuition to be an enjoyable experience. I do not hesitate to recommend her xxx
I've enjoyed watching her improve greatly over the course of our classes together and she's much quicker and more confident to answer than before - she always had an excellent accent, vocabulary range and knack for picking up new grammar rules
I'm really very proud of the progress she's made and, while we do always have a good laugh together, the dedication she's put into learning Spanish has been admirable thus far - thanks for choosing me as your tutor, Sarah! xxx
Homework is always extremly helpful.
Ruqayyah is very pacient and creative teacher!
He's very quick to pick up techniques to improve his phonetic abilities and has worked really hard since his first lesson.
I'm really satisfied with the work he's done so far and he has a lot of potential to do very well - can't wait to see where his French will take him!
I've thoroughly enjoyed teaching him so far and look forward to continue supporting him in his progress and making the most of his capabilities :) well done, Stuart!
I would very highly recommend Ruqayyah to anybody looking for a tutor. :)
In addition, he's been very committed to the work I've given him outside of class so far so I really do have high hopes for him!
I can safely say they have made massive progress in Spanish: their spoken, written and aural skills have soared since we first started, their articulation is fantastic and watching their confidence in their own abilities grow has been delightful :)
Just a little bit of practice really does go a long way - well done to the both of you!
Great, bright and committed student - he'll be chatting away in Spanish in no time :) practice makes perfect so keep it up!
Definitely on board with this programme (after-school extra-curricular Spanish for students and their parents to learn together) as I believe strongly in parents getting stuck in with their kids' educations - and it's fun/a bonus for them to learn a new language or skill alongside their kids too!
The course is a really progressive, sensible and holistic move for the kids on the school's part and even after just a week, I know it's going to be a fantastic experience teaching at Weatherhead :) looking forward to bringing in some non-alcoholic sangria to share out at next week's class!
I'm sad that they'll be leaving for Spain but very happy knowing they're going with a bit more practice under their belts. Thank you for choosing me as your tutor - it's been a real pleasure!
Very welcoming
Great value for money
Fun to learn
Knows how people learn
I had to 2 months to learn Italian and she doing great job because she cares Andrew is motivated
Her pronunciation came along within the first hour of teaching her and she appears to have had little trouble understanding new concepts in grammar :) looking forward to building her confidence and to chatting away with her in Spanish!
Thanks for coming to me - I look forward to helping you learn to speak Spanish!
Looking forward to making more progress with you in preparation for your exams :)
She's made huge progress since she first started doing her nursery rhymes and flashcards - she now knows all of her body-parts in French and can string together little sentences.
Very proud of her hard work and am looking forward to doing some more games with her next time I see her!
I've never enjoyed learning a language so much.
