Hi guys, I am Junseong, 100% native Korean, 7th year studying in the UK and I can be the teacher you are looking for!
I have been voluntarily tutoring Korean at the university for about 2 years now and it`s been unforgettably enjoyable. In fact, I have been asked to lead the beginners`group after my first year of experience and now, I am the organiser!
So now, I have put myself into private tutoring to expand the area of teaching Korean. I personally love teaching along with being greatly appreciated by students. It is undoubtedly what keeps me going. It is in fact, extremely common for me to spend extra time with my students just because i enjoy having lessons with them!
Since I am a kind of person who cannot stand leaving things unsorted. i assure every question students ask is answered in as much details as possible.
Before you start reading further details, i must tell you that the way i construct my lessons is different to how other tutors might run
Dedication
- No need to buy textbooks! I make my own materials so that myself can understand fully too
Persistent Improvement
- Every time i receive a feedback or read a book about Education, i make changes to my materials
Flexibility
- I have my own page for students to download materials, podcasts, and most importantly, ask questions at any time
Further inquiries are welcome so please do not hesitate to ask questions!
Thank you for reading!

Teaching Approach:
I used to have a lot of materials in one lesson but now i have learned to take it slowly but maybe more thoroughly and it has been working surprisingly well already.
Usually, my sheet will contain an important grammatical (or vocabulary when necessary) outline at first then you get to use them immediately by conversational sections ; All the small details and nuances of the actual sentences will be explained in detail so that there is no confusion
Also, I realized that many of adult learners and students do not have much time to revise and study of their own, so i have put a relevant set of homework as well as usage of learning tools like Quizlet so that it does not take up too much of students time but still works effectively
The following lessons will always contain things that have already been covered with new study materials providing wider range of similar structures therefore, you get to experience a gradual and firm learning curve.
After every 10 lessons, I set a small test for you to complete. It can be challenging but tests do make you go back to what you learnt before. In fact, the results so far have been extremely positive and my students get more motivated after a feedback.

I love the vocab sheets and other learning material I learn off - I feel my ability to memorise information greatly improving and I know a lot more than I did when I was attempting to learn solo. There is great variety in materials and how lessons are structured that has made it interactive and provides the opportunity to utilise and consolidate previous weeks/months of learning. Feedback on vocab and learning has been amazing for ensuring consistency and I greatly appreciate the time and effort afforded outside of lesson time to provide feedback and support.
Having a teacher with clear expectations that supports and drives learning in lessons and outside of lesson time has been amazing to drive me to stay on track while ensuring that I am saying things correctly has helped my confidence in trying to speak korean.
10/10 would recommend Jun as a teacher and hope to have as much time possible as his student
Jun prepares all his own material, and has a strong focus on speaking and getting things right. We always review previous material to make sure it sticks, so the lessons tend to be about 1/3 each new material, speaking practice, and reviewing previous material. The emphasis on speaking really helps build confidence, which is great for me as I tend to be shy with new languages.
Jun is also a very dedicated and motivational teacher. Like others have said, I always look forward to the next lesson even though I know it will be challenging. I feel encouraged to study outside of lesson time, and Jun makes time to give feedback on pronunciation and answer questions during the week which is incredibly kind and helpful.
Overall great guy, I’d strongly recommend getting lessons with Jun.
Explanations are clear and engaging - the focus on speaking is really helpful, even if a lil stressful at times for my perfectionist tendencies haha. But Jun is very encouraging and never makes me feel embarrassed for making mistakes.
The resources he has created are also amazing and his experience is evident in the way he adjusts himself in each class and approaches the language. For me I chose to go for a tutor rather than a class to better have that responsiveness and go at the pace that works for me - and Jun just absolutely nails this. Having ADHD this is especially important for me, because my attention wanders easily and I can struggle to do things consistently so some of my education experiences in the past have not worked out so well. Not at all an issue with Jun's classes, the time just disappears!
Finally Jun is just easy to talk to - a genuine, sweet, and interesting person who's up for talking about whatever random thing or question that pops into my head (and there are many
Jun creates his own materials for the lessons, rather than following textbooks. The lessons are a balance of reviewing previous material, testing vocabulary and pronunciation, learning new rules and lots of practicing. This mix, and the pace that we go means that I am really embedding the new vocab and material – learning to understand rather than just learning to repeat.
The first few weeks focused on the alphabet, and in-particular getting the pronunciation of the vowels right, which is hugely important to be understood in Korean. This emphasis on the basics has meant that I am more confident as we introduce new rules and vocabulary each week.
Jun is also a lot of fun, I learn a lot but always have fun in the lessons too, which helps me to feel comfortable in practicing, making mistakes and asking questions. I often have questions on the homework or about the language and country and Jun is really responsive in between lessons, which again helps with my personal learning process and keeping me engaged.
Thanks Jun!
As a total beginner, in 6 lessons I have learnt Hangul by listening, reading, writing and speaking vocabulary. At the moment, we spend most time on pronounciation, which is good, because if you don't get it right at the beginning, you rarely do later. It makes the difference between being understood or not, so is worth working on.
What I really like is that from the second lesson onwards, we practise speaking using the words and phrases I'm learning. It helps to remember them. The language comes alive and you start to think in Korean.
Learning a language is hard, especially Korean the 5th most difficult for English speakers, so it's really important to have a tutor you get on with and who understands your learning problems. Jun Seong does. It's also useful that he has spent so much time in the UK, because most Korean tutors are more culturally attuned to American vocabulary and pronounciation.
I'm so happy I found Jun Seong. His evident enjoyment of teaching livens up the lessons no end. They're fun. My ambition is to speak Korean well enough to talk about his country and culture in Korean. Because of his enthusiasm and expertise, I'm sure I'll go the distance! Thank you Jun Seong.
I hope that Jun will be able to keep teaching her for a long time and I look forward to seeing her progress.
Thank you Jun !
He spent a lot of his time studying/living in the UK so there is no language barrier which makes it super easy for us to communicate our point across in our lessons (and it’s also easier for us to joke around!). He is also meticulous in his tutelage and I can always count on him for a raw, honest answer (especially when it comes to my pronunciation!)
His explanations are always clear, concise and easy to understand. He always asks me if I have any questions and our lessons often go over the allotted time slot as Jun always likes to make sure I understand and am happy with everything.
In conjunction with his incredibly well made teaching materials, he also offers a large insight into Korean culture and life which is useful as it puts a lot of the Korean language nuances into a perspective that I can understand. He is very easy to talk to and I always look forward to our lessons as I know I am in good hands.
He's a top guy and I can't praise him enough.
Looking forward to future lessons with him! 감사합니다 선생님!
One of the things I enjoy most about Jun's lessons is that I always learn so much and can see myself improving after every lesson. Jun makes all of the materials for the lessons himself, which shows just how dedicated he is towards his students, and he always ensures that the homework set is focused towards what is being learnt currently whilst also revising previous work that has been learnt. As well as this, Jun doesn't just teach the minimum that he can in his lessons, he will teach extra information such as text language and things that native Koreans say that isn’t in any textbooks.
I always learn so much in the lessons and always look forward to my next lesson with Jun. Even when there are parts of the language that I find difficult, I never feel put off because Jun is always very encouraging and reassuring, and will help me to understand and overcome the part that I am finding difficult. I feel as though I am learning Korean so much quicker than I ever imagined I would, and its all because of Jun's amazing teaching!
감사합니다 준!
I will see you on Tuesday!
Will have no trouble recommending him for all who are starting to learn Korean.
He has an extensive range of resources, from flashcards on quizlet, worksheets and even podcasts. Also he is constantly updating his worksheets to make sure you get the best standard of teaching possible. He is also very flexible with lessons and can rearrange if you need to move your lesson to a different day/time.
After learning for only a couple of months, not only do I feel as though i've made lots of progress but I feel more confident and look forward to my Korean lessons. Junseong never judges you if you make a mistake and actively encourages you to be experimental which is the best (and funnest) way to learn a language.
He is a funny friendly person and an all round great teacher. I would recommend Junseong to anyone wanting to learn Korean, or even just to improve their Korean! 고마워요 Jun!
Since Junseong is a native Korean speaker, he is very knowledgeable in everything to know about Korean life and culture, both of which would be difficult for an outsider to learn about. He also knows important little things such as nuances in spoken dialect and slang terms in Korean, so I find that my knowledge of the language is much more similar to that of a native, and not of a textbook. He is always willing to give up time outside of lessons to answer any questions I have or help with homeworks, and he is very flexible with lesson times due to any cancellations.
It's amazing to see the progress I've made learning Korean in such a short amount of time, and I can genuinely attribute most of that to Junseong's teaching style. From my first lesson onwards I was taught to read Korean, and now at my 9th or 10th lesson, I can form simple sentences and both my accent and speed of reading improve more and more with every lesson. I always look forward to our lessons every week, and I would highly recommend Junseong as your Korean tutor!
