Information About Josefina - Stowmarket teacher

Personal Description:

I am an enthusiastic language teacher who has a deep interest in communication, and of course in language in particular, because it is key to building relationships, creating empathy and understanding. I am someone who encourages students to challenge themselves so they can make progress in any enterprise and especially in learning languages.
I have worked in different countries in a variety of jobs.
When I am not working, I like to read, walk, do gardening and explore different recipes in the kitchen.

Teaching Experience:

I have been working as an MFL teacher in schools around Suffolk for almost 6 years. I teach Spanish, French and Italian.
In state schools and independent schools I have been mainly teaching Spanish to KS3 and KS4 level, French to KS3 level
and I have also experience of teaching A level Spanish and Italian. Last year I gained experience as an examiner for the Italian GCSE and A level speaking exams.
I also have experience in teaching Italian to adults in business.
Previously I have taught English as a Foreign Language and Italian to immigrants in Italy.

Teaching Approach:

I use a combination of approaches: teacher-centred (deductive approach), providing learners with rules, followed by examples; and learner-centred (inductive), where the emphasis is on greater scaffolding. The choice of which approach I use depends on several factors, including the students' level and maturity while they are learning a language.
For example, for more experienced students, I prefer to explicitly teach them grammar in order for them to understand examples and learn through patterns. While for less experienced students, I will prioritise the use of 'sentence builders' (structures of language) to help them to build confidence and ownership to be prepared for the next steps.
