Information About John - Glasgow teacher

Personal Description:

I'm a friendly and experienced languages tutor. I like to think I have a fun sense of humour and am laid-back and easy to get along with. I have lived and worked in Geneva, Luxembourg and the south of France. I spent a few years working in Scotland with IBM, dealing with French-speaking customers.

I'm also a musician; I record music; I do a bit of writing too, mainly short stories. I try and stay fit by doing a bit of cycling and hill walking. I love nature and am interested in any aspect of science.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring languages for many years, all levels and ages, including children who are preparing for exams. I also tutored English for a time when I stayed in France.

Teaching Approach:

It's got to be fun! You learn much better when you are stimulated by the subject and the experience. Our conversation topics can be whatever your favourite hobbies or interests are. I believe it's important to create the right atmosphere for tuition; the social aspect of it counts. Humour can be part of it, too. If you can joke in a foreign language, that's a really cool thing to accomplish. We will of course cover language essentials such as pronunciation and the most important verbs. I will teach you useful rules which you learn once, then can apply to many situations. You learn best when you are actively involved in something, so you will do plenty of the talking and I'll keep it varied.
