Information About James - Bingley teacher
Personal Description:
James B.A. (Hons): I am a keen linguist, musician, and mountaineer. After studying German for 8 years, and gaining an A level in the subject, I gained a scholarship to Aberystwyth University, where I read History for three years. During this time, I also learnt Welsh to an introductory level, and taught music for many years. Having graduated earlier this year with a 2:1, I moved to Switzerland where I taught at Leysin American School, one of the worlds' top boarding schools. I have been to Germany many times, and found knowledge of the language useful in at least three European countries. I maintain a lasting relation with my exchange partner in Nordrhein Westfahlen, and am very passionate about modern Germany.
Teaching Experience:
I have been a classroom assistant in both GCSE and A level German lessons, offering help mainly with spoken German. In addition, I am able to offer tuition in improving reading, writing, and listening skills to an intermediate standard. Although I am a keen linguist, the majority of my private tuition experience comes from guitar lessons, which I have given for seven years.
Teaching Approach:
My approach is relaxed, friendly, not strict at all. I believe that being strict creates the wrong mentality for learning. After an intitial chat to see what you want to achieve, or indeed already have achieved, I will basically outline a rough lesson plan which is matched to your strengths as much as possible. Each pupil requires a different approach.
