Information About Iwona - Ayr teacher
This is how a referee rated Iwona:
Hello, my name is Yvonna and I am Polish. I spent over 40 years in Wroclaw, but in 2012 I moved to Scotland and I found my new vocation: teaching languages.
Scotland is a gorgeous place to live and grow. I don’t mind the weather or the politics. I like Scottish nature, the hills, the parks, and the sea, and I particularly like visiting castles and historic places. Beautiful scenery inspired me to start painting, I even got to exhibit in local galleries.
After I moved to Scotland, I started ESOL Access 3-level course at the Learning Shop in Ayr. As my English improved, I discovered that my skills can be used to help others and I began to assist teachers and help them with translating.
In September 2014 I started training as a Volunteer Adult Learning Tutor and completed it in December 2014. I helped with ESOL groups at the Adult Learning Centre and I had one-to-one lessons with some of the learners. I also volunteered as a basic IT tutor in the Learning Shop.
Today, I continue to be a self-employed translator, interpreter, and tutor. I mostly have online lessons and I like to use the "Polski krok po kroku" series as my learning plan. I do listen to my students and adjust the material to their skills and needs. If you already have a book, we can use it too.
My students value my sense of humour and my knowledge of the Polish language, history, and traditions. Being a Pole, I know what to say to be "cool" and what mistakes could have catastrophic social results.
As a language tutor, I met many people from all over the UK, with different backgrounds and different motivations. Polish is not an easy language to learn, and it does take time and a substantial amount of work. If you are ready to do it, don't hesitate to send me a message. We can discuss your learning plan in a trial lesson. I can't wait to meet you.
