Personal Description:

I graduated from the University of Oviedo with a BA in Spanish and another in English. I obtained my qualified teacher status in Spain via a Posgraduate course and when coming to the UK I obtained the validation of QTS for overseas trained teachers.

I am currently finishing a second master´s degree in the UK with a view to continuing to PhD in the near future.

Teaching Experience:

i have worked in Secondary Schools both in Spain and the UK.

I also have experience as a private tutor for adults and young adults in both countries.

Teaching Approach:

I am only teaching online at the moment (Skype + emails for exercises)

I like to tailor the class to the specific needs and tastes of the student - specially the former is usually dismissed in class practices, but I believe in the importance of creating personal bonds with the area of study, which in the case of languages enables the student to digest and comprehend the new information in a different way. I personally vouch for after classes activities such as reading and watching films in the original language as a subtle but strong foundation for language proficiency.

Regarding classroom techniques, I believe in a combination of the Communicative Approach and more traditional techniques - I have access to abundant and varied resources for various levels. I am also keen on informal speaking classes for those willing to learn or improve their language away from the tiranny of grammar.

I have some experience preparing for various exams: GCSE, A-Levels and DELE.

I additionally offer specialised support for those studying Spanish at University level - which often implies a further understanding of the cultural and historical elements beyond the language. As a philologist, I can also offer support in more technical aspects such as linguistics (historical, biological and grammatical), phonetics and especially literature, my field of expertise.
