Information About Harsimrat - Romford teacher

Personal Description:

Hi,

My name is Harsimrat . I'm a Maths and Punjabi language tutor with many years experience. I also have 12 years experience as a Data Analyst in the corporate world and 4 years experience working in a Primary School. Outside of working life, I volunteer in Punjabi and Sikhi Classes at the local Gurdwara youth group as I believe in giving back to the community.

I am DBS checked.

Teaching Experience:

I am a Punjabi tutor with 5+ years experience teaching in a variety of settings: Punjabi Class, Online and In-Person.

I am also a Maths tutor with 10+ years experience mostly in person.

I also have led local youth groups for the last 10 years teaching about public speaking, Sikh religion, history, female empowerment and other topics.

Teaching Approach:

I have a Montessori approach to teaching.

For speaking: we take one topic at a time and switch out your normal day-to-day conversations from English to Punjabi. Whether its "Hey. How are you?", or "I'm leaving now, see you later", or "I'm hungry what shall we eat". Switching out day-to-day conversations builds confidence, curiosity and we learn the sentence structure while still being able to hold a conversation.

Similarly for reading and writing: we will take a few letters at a time and learn to recognise them and make simple words from the first lesson. This builds interest and basic skills from day 1 for reading and writing.

We will use a mixture of traditional book work learning and a practical approach at the same time allowing you to learn theory and practical skills at the same time.

Resources we use range from flashcards to workbook to crosswords and videos.
