Information About Hannah - Bristol teacher

Personal Description:

Hi! I'm Hannah - I'm a 3rd year Modern Languages student at the University of Birmingham, studying for a BA in Spanish and French. I love to learn and I love languages, so I love my course!

As a 20 year old, I myself undertook the new Spanish GCSE and A-level syllabi, and therefore have recent and personal experience of learning a foreign language as a Brit in the current education system, which really helps me to empathise and break down necessary content for tutees.

Outside of studies, my family and friends would describe me as a friendly and caring character, who also likes to have fun! I play netball and like going out with my friends, whilst managing my time to work hard for my degree.

Teaching Experience:

I have previously tutored 2 students, one in GCSE Spanish and one at pre-GCSE level Mathematics, helping both students to increase their results by 2 grades and forming great relationships with them both. I focused very particularly on analysing the specific needs of my tutees to make customised workplans and resources that best suited them, and would put this approach to use again!

I have also just completed a 4 month internship at an English-teaching organisation in Paris, which has helped me to further understand and learn about the best pedagogical methods that I will bring to my role as a tutor.

Teaching Approach:

As mentioned, I tailor my content to the individual tutee, as everyone's needs and techniques for learning are different. I like to base my content on the qualification for which my tutee is studying, so that their new knowledge is as applicable as possible - however I don't just believe in learning the content for exams, so make sure to widen this knowledge for more general use as well.

I also regularly take feedback from my tutees, and ask them about certain topics for which they want help, to make sure to incorporate this into my workplan for them.
