Information About Hannah - Peckham teacher
This is how 2 referees rated Hannah:
I have a passion for learning and speaking languages, and love passing this on to others who want to learn. I studied French and Spanish at University and after living and working in the countries have mastered the accent and formal and informal aspects of both. I have a TEFL qualification which means that I can also teach English as a foreign language, however a love of literature and previous study of the language itself means that I am able to teach this as a subject to native speakers as well. I believe that teaching others to learn another languages is not only useful for communication but opens eyes to other cultures and ways of life.
I have taught English in Spain and Holland and also have been a teaching assistant in England teaching GCSE pupils French and Spanish with good results. I have also had past experience giving one on one tuition to GCSE and mature language students.
I believe that teaching a language should be an enjoyable experience in which the learner sees their ability to communicate in that language improve week to week. Grammar is very important in doing this, however weeks spent learning tables will not help encourage a spoken fluency, and must be incorporated in a way in which it is seen as a useful tool but not a chore. We all have a built in framework for language learning, which is currently structured to our mother tongue. The key to making a language make sense to a learner is explaining the rules we use in day to day life and then transferring these to the language which is being learnt. Simplifying the grammar framework means that a learner can pick up the new language faster and will enjoy the learning process more.
