I am Italian and I attained a BA in foreign language in Palermo, Italy, where I worked till 2007. In Uk I worked as customer service consultant and I dealt with French and Italian customers over the phone and translated KB (knowledge base articles) from English to Italian and French. I also have been teaching Italian and French in the Uk since 2008.
Teaching Experience:
I worked in Palermo as French, English and Italian teacher. I assisted students in improving their achievement by meeting with them on a regular basis to clarify learning problems and work on study skills. I also reviewed class material, discussed the text, predicted test questions, formulated ideas for papers, or worked on solutions to problems.I also provide online lessons through Skype.
Teaching Approach:
I value and appreciate students as individual and I genuinely care about them and want them to succeed and I am also aware of differencese amongst learners.

Not only do you get excellent Italian language lessons, you also learn about Italian culture which will be so helpful when visiting the country. He has helped both my children with GCSE (Italian) and A level (Italian and occasionally French) and suffice to say that they have both passed with top results. He has also helped my husband to prepare for a B2 exam. We started with face to face lessons and then we had to move to remote, because of Covid. This has not affected the effectiveness of the lessons.
Giovanni is very knowledgeable and *very* patient! He can engage with diverse age groups, diverse level of knowledge and maturity. He has also been very flexible and fit around a busy schedule. I do not hesitate to recommend him: do what he says and you'll get there!

Due to having an Italian Partner, i needed to brush up on the language and really get an understanding of the grammar and workings of the Language that i wouldn't otherwise pick up by myself.
Giovanni has been very patient and is always available for questions during and after each class. In addition, his extra homework/tasks have been invaluable in ensuring that i really get the understanding of what we learnt in each class.
I intend to continue working with Giovanni and would highly recommend him to anyone at any level.

I took Italian lessons to go on holiday and during my stay, I practised my Italian and I managed not to use English and I received very good feedback from the locals. I have got this result thank to Giovanni because he teaches just the way you learn your mother tongue, grammar, conversation and vocabulary. Everything, he does it's very natural and you don't feel that you are learning.

From James (/5): I set Giovanni a challenge - 6 months to get me to a standard where I can at least have a conversation for about 3 minutes in Italian. I already speak French and Spanish - so I knew that this was going to be difficult. However, Giovanni was up to the challenge and set about teaching me the basics, linking it to my understanding of French and Spanish and then building on the learning. I am pleased to say that during my week's visit to Sicily, I was able to converse with the driver of our transfer from the airport, order a taxi on the telephone (and tell him where we were located - as we were not in a main area of the town), speak to waiters to explain where we were from and chat to the guide on a Segway tour. Giovanni is extremely patient and explains things exceptionally well. It is like having a friend come over for a coffee on a Saturday morning, as he is an interesting guy and he also explains cultural significance of various aspects of Italian life, so you have some background to the explanations - as well as learning colloquialisms. I would recommend Giovanni for any level of Italian - he is professional, knowledgeable and a great guy!

I am glad I chose a one to one tutor and after each lesson, I leave knowing that my use of the Italian language has improved. I have been trying to teach myself for the last two years and I now wish that I had sought out a tutor a lot earlier.
