I am a professional translator and language tutor with degrees from Durham University and the University of Cambridge. I received a first class degree in Modern Languages with a Distinction in Spoken Spanish from Durham University, and I also have a distinction-level MPhil degree from the University of Cambridge in Latin American Studies. I have spent a total of 5 years living in Spain and Latin America. This combination of high-level formal study, in-country immersion and professional experience means I have an excellent understanding of both Iberian and Latin American Spanish, the cultures of the Spanish-speaking world and how to transmit this knowledge in a clear, accessible way.
I have worked as an English teacher for young children in Argentina and Peru. I have given private English tuition to a number of advanced students, and ran a number of English literature workshops in Argentina. Most recently, I have been teaching Spanish conversation classes in Sunderland.
My approach to teaching is all about tailoring the classes to the student's needs. Whether you are taking an exam, want to learn basic phrases for a holiday or just want to learn something new, I can prepare exercises to help you meet your goals.
I find that many people feel that learning a language is "too hard" or "intimidating". I aim to make language-learning an enjoyable, accessible experience that is fun while being informative.
