Information About Fabienne - Maryland teacher

Personal Description:

I am a MFL teacher (French and German). I have a Master of Applied foreign languages and translation from France. I am from Luxembourg and I am native in French, German, Portuguese and Luxembourgish. I am also fluent in English. Before becoming a teacher, I was a project manager in translations.

Teaching Experience:

I am a MFL teacher (French and German) in secondary school in London. I teach French and German to KS3 - KS5 classes. I know the GCSE exam specifications by heart and train students based on the new curriculum requirements.

Teaching Approach:

I am fluent in five languages (French, German, Portuguese, English and Luxembourgish). I want all my students to become as successful and passionate about languages as I am. I have high expectations for my students and they love it.

I believe that new vocabulary should not be learned as a list of new words but put in context in texts - that’s how you learned your native language! I strongly encourage my students to produce paragraphs including complex and full sentences to prepare them for their GCSE exams.

My students are challenged every single lesson by relentlessly practicing and achieving accuracy in writing and pronunciation. Silent letters and false friends are demons we defeat every day.

I am extremely passionate about inclusive learning. I aid pupils with a wide scope of barriers to learning. I therefore developed a variety of teaching strategies to make my lessons accessible to all.

All my lessons contain a variety of activities around the four language skills — reading, listening, speaking and writing. These are also the four GCSE exam papers.

I incorporate engaging and original activities such as games, videos, quizzes, songs and quirky French/German/Luxembourg traditions, historical facts and stories.
