Personal Description:
My name is Evangelia (Eva). Ι am a Greek native speaker and I hold a bachelor's degree in Greek Language and Literature (University of Crete, Greece) and a masters in Language Studies (Lancaster, UK). I have been working as a tutor of the Greek language for about 15 years and have been teaching students of all ages.
I have been teaching Greek as a Foreign or Second Language since I moved to UK (7 years ago). I have been teaching adults at the International House of London, at Aspire Sussex Adult Education Centre, and at the Alexandria Institute in Athens.
I am currently the Headteacher at the Greek School in Brighton, a supplementary school who teachers the Greek Language and Culture to children and adults,
I am also the owner of the private tuition centre. I deliver one to one lessons and group lessons face to face and online, which help the students to develop communicative skills, reading and writing.
I am also the founder of a Facebook page, which brings together thousands of students and friends of the Greek language from all over the world.
Through my experience, I have developed my teaching techniques and I am able to adapt them to suit all students' needs.
Teaching Experience:
I have worked in various settings and managed to develop schemes of work and lesson plans in line with curriculum objectives.
- Teaching children and adults Greek as a foreign or second language (one-to-one, group lessons, face-to-face and online lessons)
- Teaching Ancient Greek, Modern Greek and Greek Mythology in Aspire Sussex Adult Education Centre
- Teaching Greek language and Culture at the Brighton Greek School
- Teaching university students in groups and in private lessons (Ancient Greek language and literature, Latin, Modern Greek Language and literature, History, Philosophy, Ancient Drama, English)
-Online teaching of the Greek language and culture
Teaching Approach:
I am always open to my pupils' suggestions and I try to organise the learning session, according to their own needs and level. My lessons are always well structured according to my students' needs and expectations. Listening/speaking and reading/writing skills are developed through an interactive, productive and pleasant way.
I use as much material as I can, in order to make the lesson enjoyable and interesting. I tend to emphasise on details, which can be helpful for people who seriously want to get involved with Greek.
I try to speak Greek as much as possible, during the classes, because I believe it is the most effective way for someone to learn Greek easily and fastly, even if they don't speak a single word before the classes. In the end, I believe in the interaction between tutor and student. Learning is a dynamic and experientlal procedure for both of them.
I have a very caring approach with all my students and I often discuss their progress with them and set new targets and challenges.

I highly recommend her.
Nikolas and Georgios are both excellent students!
She is extremely well organised and prompt to respond to any queries asked of her.
Her lesson format is well structured and she uses lots of different resources to get the most out of each session. She also has a good knack of gauging her students needs, and the lesson content is always just the right amount, neither too difficult nor too easy.
Most importantly for me though, Eva is an incredibly kind and good natured individual, and it is always a pleasure to participate in her classes.
Here's to many more in the future.
Ευχαριστώ πολύ Εύα :)
Ευχαριστώ πολύ!
Update in May 2020. Thanks to Evangelia, my son received excellent comments from his school teacher who is really satisfied with his progress to GCSE standard in just 7 months. I totally recommends Evangelia.
I will definitely return to her in the future.
Her lessons are informative, well structured and designed to broaden vocabulary whilst teaching both its retention and use. They are also practical and testing.
She is very patient, engaging and encouraging.
Best wishes

Best wishes,
Evangelia
Matches the pace to suit an takes the time to revisit earlier learnings to help ensure I learn, rather than just remember.
Has lots of patience (just as well for me!).
Thoroughly recommend.

Thank you very much for your feedback!
Evangelia
Looking forward to our next lesson. Thanks Eva
Ta leme! (See you!) :-)
And thank you Eva. Peter Benson
I want to learn modern Greek, but for more than just holiday use, i.e grammar etc and Eva is happy to do this on a longer term basis, over and above the 8 hours survival etc on the site. I have no doubt however, that if I was looking for holiday use, she would be sending me off with enough to happily get by.
Having started my lessons with Eva, I hope to continue indefinitely. You can find a lot of 'teach yourself' languages courses on the internet, but nothing beats actual interaction and being able to talk/refine pronunciation with another person, especially with someone for whom it is their mother tongue.
Apart from all of that, Eva is a lovely, friendly lady, and she makes me coffee!!!!
Maria is a good and patient student! She loves learning foreign languages and she enjoys learning Greek.
She is a fast learner and I think that in a few weeks she will manage to communicate with the Greek people using the basic words and phrases…
