As a Brit born in Paris, I have been speaking French all my life. I grew up in various French-speaking countries around Europe, finally settling down in Belgium where I spent the majority of my schooling at the 'Lycée Français' in Brussels. The experience of growing up in not one, but three French speaking countries has given me a rounded and comprehensive appreciation for the nuances of the French language.

During my schooling, I studied French as a native for 11 years and further passed higher level exams for the International Baccalaureate in both French language and literature, scoring the UCAS equivalent to a triple A*. This experience deepened my appreciation for languages as a whole, and gave me first-hand experience as to how best to tailor learning a second language.

Teaching Experience:

I started tutoring whilst still at school, teaching French as a second language from 2009 onwards. I have continued to do so ever since.

By teaching students of many backgrounds, I have gained a firm grasp of how to interact with, and accommodate, pupils from all walks of life. Understanding a student's background, and their reasoning for even picking up a second language in the first place, is essential in being able to best approach lessons that will enable the tuttee to progress and reach goals that they did not think they could achieve.

With the current lockdown situation I have found myself moving to online tutoring, when necessary, with ease. With my professional two-camera set-up no amount of detail is lost when teaching, and with many years of experience in the digital sphere I am comfortable offering students a thorough and engaging lesson despite the session not being face-to-face.

Teaching Approach:

I am a firm believer that each student's particular personal journey with a language is unique to them. Having been taught the traditional fashion whilst at school, I am able to help students with their homework and exam material. I also enjoy curating lessons based more on each student's particular interests. My aim is to foster the pupil's imagination and creativity by tailoring the lessons to their specific needs and interests, so as to watch them grow and perfect the skillsets that will enable them to express themselves fluently in their newly acquired language.
