Personal Description:
I am a qualified Spanish teacher with a Master Degree in Spanish as a Foreign Language. I love to teach and help people with their difficulties with Spanish. I am also available to revise and correct thesis and any kind of writing works in Spanish.
Teaching Experience:
I worked as a Spanish teacher at the University of Oviedo (Spain) and in a High School in Spain and I have been working as a Spanish teacher/ tutor full time since I finished my Masters degree 6 years ago. You can check the feedback left by other tutees about me below and I would be more than happy to provide references from the language school in which I have worked for the last 5 years.
Teaching Approach:
My lessons are completely tailored to your needs and interests.
I did my master’s thesis on the subject of oral and phonetic skills, consequently I will be able to help you improve your conversational skills and to achieve proficiency in everyday Spanish.
In addition, I have many teaching materials at my disposal to work with you on your grammar, vocabulary, listening and writing skills; I offer a comprehensive class that will allow you to pass any official DELE examination or to achieve any other goal that you may have.
For my lessons I make use of a wide variety of online resources to ensure that we will be able to talk, write, listen and read together. During our lessons a book-like document will be created with all of the topics that we will be covering in class as well as notes and extra resources that I will add.
You will be able to go over everything by opening the online document at any time – all of the resources will be ordered by topic and will include convenient vocabulary and grammar sheets.
You will also be able to print the online documents if you so desire. In all honesty, I believe that online lessons are better than traditional forms of tutoring, not only because they make it possible for you to have lessons at home without wasting any of your time commuting, but also because after a few lessons, you will have access to a book of conveniently ordered, selected materials, which will include notes from your tutor - eliminating the need for you to take down your own notes and end up with a messy collection of sheets that you will have to put in order before being able to go over them.
With each lesson this customized book will be added to until it ends up containing every little aspect of the language. I have at my disposal a high-sensitivity microphone, a good webcam and a superb Internet connection in order to offer the highest quality tutoring service.

A COUPLE OF IMPORTANT POINTS TO KEEP IN MIND: In order to fully exploit the potential of the online tools that I use, I highly recommend that you use a laptop PC or Mac, as some of the software does not run as well on smartphones or tablets.
No subscription/registration, payment or previous experience is required to use these tools and they are pretty straightforward!
Cancellation policy: before canceling a lesson, please keep in mind that this is my full-time job and that I work hard to provide the best possible tutoring service that I can. Moreover, I am quite flexible and I am willing to accommodate myself to any changes in schedule or cancellations that you may require.
For these reasons, any lesson which was not cancelled 48 hours prior to its scheduled time will be considered as having been completed.
IMPORTANT: After each lesson, I will create an invoice that will include the details of a British bank and my PayPal account so you can make the payments easily. I can create invoices for more than one lesson, but they must be paid in advance.
I would greatly appreciate if invoices can be paid within a 5-day period from the date of receipt. As I have a considerable number of students, this will allow me to keep accounts properly and provide you with a better service. Please keep in mind that in case of having two invoices that have not been paid, the classes will be suspended until the payment for those lessons is made.

From Katherine (/5): By the summer of 2023, our 16 year old daughter, Emily, was really struggling with Spanish and was worried for her GCSE grade the following year. She had lost confidence and felt she was falling further and further behind in her school lessons. From her very first session with Enrique, Emily felt so much happier. He was friendly and easy to talk through and took her through the basics to find out what she knew (or didn't know!) without making her feel self conscious. Ten months later, Emily has grown so much in confidence and ability the difference is amazing. She is now predicted a GCSE grade 2 levels higher than last summer. Emily says the way that Enrique approached each session in a structured way really helped her to see how she was making progress. At school she feels that she has more than caught up with the rest of the class and now her friends are asking her how to put together sentences! He is encouraging and always finding the positives in all my mistakes. He adapts to every situation so that if we start on one topic but notices I am struggling with a particularly area, he can instantly change track to focus on that difficulty. He is particularly good at knowing when I don’t understand a concept and he will change the way we learn it until I am happy and he is happy that I understand. His classes create a good atmosphere as well, which really helps with engaging in the tasks which he provides. Enrique’s English is very good as well, which makes it easy to comunícate in both Spanish and English.

From STACey (/5): Enrique is an amazing teacher he using a range of learning styles including games , repetition his materials are great to look back on and he is friendly and put us at ease especially with my partner who is dyslexic. It is not by choice we have stopped and hopefully financially when we can we will start back up with Enrique he is very accommodating is willing to give extra support and materials homework if needed and wanted and we were very happy with him as a tutor and when we can go back to it we will be coming to him :)

However, from the first lesson it was clear that Enrique's style is one of being non judgemental, calm and encouraging. When I asked our son what he thought of his lessons he described Enrique as positive, kind and 'of great help' followed by 'there is nothing negative to say'! He has asked for repeated lessons as he feels it has improved his Spanish and confidence approaching his GCSEs. Whatever he achieves in the exams (having come to Enrique late), we have no doubt that it will be better than without Enrique's input. Highly recommend! Claire

From Nicki (/5): After the summer lockdown my 14 year old son was struggling in GCSE Spanish. We found Enrique through FirstTutors and my son has been tutored by him for four months now. Initially my son was very sceptical of having a tutor but he really clicked with Enrique and has made great progress moving from a 4 in writing to an 8, a 5 in reading to a 7 and a 5 in speaking to 6. It’s just his listening we need to work on now (although I’d say that listening is something he struggles with in all subjects as well as at home!). From Barbara (/5): I had been trying to learn Spanish on my own for the past couple of years but realised that if I was serious about learning conversational Spanish then I needed to speak Spanish with someone on a regular basis. I couldn't find a tutor in my local area and so even though I have a phobia of speaking on the phone, I decided on lessons by Skype. I chose Enrique because of the number of excellent reviews and his professional profile. I have had 10 lessons now and I was, and still am, very nervous before each one, but Enrique is calm, friendly and reassuring. He asked me what I wanted to learn Spanish for and I told him I wanted to be able to speak more easily with people we meet in the Spanish town we visit every year. The lessons are fun and the subjects interesting, covering topics you might find yourself discussing with friends … exactly what I wanted. Enrique speaks very clearly and I am able to understand everything he says. And to my surprise, he seems to be able to understand my garbled attempts at conversation which has given me a bit more confidence, as before, I was afraid to speak for fear of sounding foolish and not being understood. I highly recommend Enrique and am very pleased that I chose him as my tutor.

He's friendly, open and very patient throughout the lessons. The lessons are well structured and Enrique is quick to adapt if he feels something needs reinforced or he'll move onto something else if he sees that you've grasped a concept. The pace of the lessons is ideal for me and we cover a lot each week. The combination of Skype and the personalised online document works really well. The online document is really useful and is easy to access for revision. The sessions are good fun and I would definitely recommend Enrique if you're interested in learning Spanish.

I have listened in to the first lesson on is sounds fine but our son feels like Enrique is heavily sighing all the time and he feels like the tutor does not like him. My son started a maths and English tutor at the same time and is loving both of these tutors. I feel so bad writing this but maby it is just a one off.

I teach many students his age and the result have been consistenly excellent (as noted on my feedback). I understand this time it did not work and Mark does not feel I am the right tutor for him and of course I respect that, but I really explained as many times as necessary everything and gave him a lot of extra materials to reinforce what we covered in the lessons as he is really behind the level he wants to achieve and of course I want him to get the most of the lessons.

Lessons are over Skype using a shared online document that is used, in which resources are placed and work is set out, all of which can be edited by myself or Enrique. After an introductory lesson in which Enrique asked me what I would like to learn and then checked my Spanish, we have been working through a program trying to improve my day to day Spanish. I travel to Spain about four or five times a year and am keen to get better at using Spanish. I feel Enrique is helping me to achieve this.
