Personal Description:

I am an experienced English teacher who was born and brought up in Wales but has spent quite a few years working and teaching English in other countries. I live in Loughor in the Gower and have my own car so am willing to travel to where my tutees are at no extra cost if it's within a 5/6 mile radius.I fit my tutoring around my voluntary work so have flexible working hours. I come from a family of teachers and headteachers so am used to being organised and well -prepared. In my free time I enjoy walking, going to the gym, retail therapy, meeting friends for a coffee or inviting them over for a meal, going to the cinema, theatre etc

Teaching Experience:

I have taught English to students of all ages and of many nationalities. I have taught English to Singaporeans at the British Council in Singapore, Central Asians at the STAR language school in Tajikistan, Latin Americans at the Jigsaw language School in South Wales, Koreans at WEST College in Bridgend. I have also taught GCSE English Language and Literature in Comprehensive Schools in Bridgend and Ludlow when I was in my 20s.

Teaching Approach:

I like to meet the student during the first free lesson, get to know them, identify their specific needs as well as being clear about their expectations. After this initial lesson I create and tailor my lessons accordingly to meet their needs.

From Muhamad Hitham (5/5): It was a great pleasure to have Lis teaching my Son. She is exceptionally great teacher. She was punctual in her appointments, polite and professional and always well prepared. My son was struggling with English literature and his expected band was B. However, with the great help from Lis, he surprised everyone by getting A.

From Julie (5/5): Lis has been a really great tutor, my son's English has improved greatly since Lis has worked with him and as a result he moved up a set in English. The only reason we stopped the tuition is due to my son needing to focus on Maths. If my son requires any additional support I will definitely be contacting Lis.

From Helen (5/5): Lis has tutored my son for 8 sessions. She has provided my son with clear guidance and structure on what is required in order to achieve the best outcome with the GCSE English Language papers. Following each lesson my son was given good revision notes and tasks to complete to capitalise on the tutoring sessions. My son struggles with English and that is why we wanted a tutor for him. Lis has provided a comprehensive file of information for my son to learn but she has broken the subject down into more manageable chunks for revision purposes. I would definitely recommend Lis. I hope my son repays her efforts and applies the knowledge he has gained and achieves a good grade in his upcoming exam. Diolch Lis for everything.
