I am a fully-qualified teacher of Spanish as a Foreign Language with more than 14 years of experience in Higher and Further Education. I moved to Glasgow nearly 20 years ago and have worked as a teacher since then. At the moment I am working as a part-time lecturer for a university in the city of Glasgow.
I am about to finish a PhD in Applied Linguistics in which I investigate new teaching methods to introduce Spanish grammar to students. I am very interested in improving the learning process of my students and believe this process should be as enjoyable as possible.
I have done some 1-2-1 tuition (on and off) since I moved to Glasgow nearly 20 years ago.
I worked as a teaching assistant in a school for two years preparing students for their Higher and Advanced Higher qualifications.
I worked at the departments of Further Education for three different universities for about 10 years.
I have worked as a teaching assistant, teaching fellow and currently as a lecturer for two universities for the last 14 years.
I am in favour of using a communicative approach to teaching a foreign language. I am particularly interested in the implementation of interactive teaching methods and techniques. Promoting motivation among students is key and for that reason I am in favour of having a conversation with the student beforehand so that lessons can be tailored according to the student's needs.
